heard more traffic on TG 1507. they were talking about overtime, some software to log the dog usage. they mentioned in an example, Charles Town, Ranson, and a few other places in Jefferson County. I am thinking this is the Jefferson County Sheriff's Dept TG.

Sorry for the delay in replying. Have had success in acessing TG 1507 traffic.
VERY interesting stuff! Thanks for the heads up.

I travel around the state quite a bit and look forward to checking out the WVIO System as I travel around. It seems that the majority of towers currently operating are in the I-79 corridor (Morgantown to Charleston region). I have not been able to find anything around Beckley, Logan or the southern part of the state. Does anyone here know the schedule for different areas going live (preferably broken down county by county)? On the same note, what area is North Mountain supposed to service? Is it strictly Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan counties, or is the footprint supposed to be larger?
TIA everyone!
Bob

Bob,

I traveled the complete I-64 route both directions 2 weeks ago and stayed overnight in Huntington on the return trip. No activity was picked up on PRO96COM using my laptop that evening but the next day I heard a Medic (79) make two unsuccessful attempts to reach another unit. I was heading south about 5 miles north of the north turnpike toll gate. The CC was Charleston.

Region 2 Testing

just started hearing testing on TG 1907. Harrison Co calling Berkeley Co. someone then said, "go ahead from downtown Hagerstown". That would be in MD.

they went on to talk about adding the freqs for this region so they can have regional coverage. also mentioned adding the hail channel.

they we talking about actually having coverage into Chambersburg, PA.

sounds like radio techs to me.

not sure what's going on but sounds like we are in for more testing traffic around Berkeley Co.

Mike, I take it you were listening to the N. Mt tower? Do you know what TG is the "hail channel)?
Tnx

I think I was wrong with Harrison Co. I think it was Hampshire Co. I heard them last night talking about doing more this morning. I setup my 396T with a temp system only. it was a copy of the P25 system and I locked out all known TGs but 1907. I've logged some traffic and emailed myself the audio as of about 10AM. I will post somewhere a zip file with all the audio from today.

the hail channel my be 1927. I'll remote into my box at home and unlock it. check out my post back a page (http://radioreference.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18334&page=14 )

if there's more testing like it was when they were testing Berkeley Co last year, I'll have to speed up my process of buying a 996T and modding it for a discriminator tap so I can use try out Trunker on the new system.

10:28 - unlocked TGs 1915, 1927, and 1997. also unlocked all radio tech TGs.

after listening to some of the audio from earlier this AM, it sounds like Hampshire Co will be next on the list. I wonder when Jefferson Co will get their system going?

5:45 - not going to post audio since it's not really anything more then I have said here.

also, heard traffic on 9771 (was not abe to really make out what they were saying) and a mic keyed on 9181.

Heard the same traffic last evening. They sounded very upbeat about the range they were getting. Anyone know about the "new tower site" that they were discussing?

hearing more on TG 9771. it's labeled as State Homeland Security & Emergency Mgmt. in the database.

8:12 - heard one guy ask where the other was. he replied "about 8 miles outside of downtown DC" what the Hell?

Only time will tell....

Are there any time tables as to regional changes to the P-25 system? Such as grant pay-outs or the likes...

I am in Monongalia Co. (Morgantown) and I was curious about the system. This is the only place that I have read about the details of the in place system and I haven't read much about the future.

Are there any external links (state sites, etc...) with more info that I can dive into.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know of any. I will look today if/when I have a chance.

found:

http://esp.ongov.net/OCICS/documents/07-27-2005 Report-Fire Chiefs.pdf

just google for " WV Interoperability System" and you'll get a lot of info...

Thanks for the links to the pdf's, Mike.

When I saw the outside of the 20'x20' comm building I was surprised... I saw that prefab building rolling down I-79 in two sections on double low-boys about a year and a half ago!

I am a project engineer overseeing heavy industrial construction, so I pay close attention to the rigs on the interstate. And that was a very unique and nice prefab.

very cool. Thanks again!

went back through my logs and audio recordings, looks like there was a mic keyed...no actual audio on TG1027 at about 1613 on 27OCT06

also, I have 9181 but unsure of what it is. also, interesting traffic on the 26th for State Homeland Security system. TG9771 is channel 1 and TG9773 is channel 2. apparently the system has a HUGE range. heard traffic stating it was being used at Dulles Airport.

System use (present and future)

Why do some of the tower info pages have location entered as "none"? Are these not yet operational? Only N. Mt, Harrison Co, Monongalia, Ohio Co and Cabell county have listings in the location field.
While asking about sites, is there a reason why Boone County has no Control Channel listed?
Also, anyone here know the "turn-on" schedule for future sites?
Thanks,
Bob

Look at the FCC licenses (by clicking on the call sign from R/R); those towers do have a location (!) (I've been to a couple of them, and I promise that they are there and bolted to the earth ;^).

Boone County is, AFAIK, not on the air yet, so no word on which freq will be assigned as the C/C. They had some "issues" that postponed implementation for a few months.

Tnx wm*s...while looking at the database again, I found something else I am curious about. I admit I have not paid attention to this, but I notice that some of the entries for the WV Interop System have entries under the heading "Display".
Is the displayed from the system or is this what someone has entered into their radio as an ID tag?
TIA
Bob
