I think the biggest feature release of the X36HP series is the simulcast decode capability. They really do hold their own in that regard. I'm listening now to the MARRS system on my 536 and not one single other radio PSR800, HP1, 996XT, ... will even unmute. For that I am very thankful.

That's not fair.

At least they are innovating and helping some people. They could have done nothing at all. The way I see it I fully expected no DMR support so at least I'm not disappointed. ;) I'll just keep putting my money into other hobbies. You have to diversify or technology will dead end you just as it is doing for me here.

The release of the Provoice option is good news but how about you finish the originally advertised features before asking for more money for new features.

If it's like the Extreme upgrade (and it was stated it will be similar), you register your scanner on Uniden's website, buy the authorization, and get a key which enables the upgrade.

That explains why I see him showing up on Waze early in the morning when I start my own 50+ mile commute at oh-god-hundred-hours... that must be one awfully long drive to work.

Well, Uniden did it again.

I take it, that as we approach the two year mark Uniden is not able to deliver what was advertised. Still waiting for the promised analyze functions to be released. They are able to spend the money on developing Provoice, but have not been able to develop analyze features.

My 396XT gives me more information on trunked systems. All I have to do is hit hold, and the info is there. Not this multi selecting on the 436 to get the real basic information on a system. Far from Advanced. Not to mention the 396XT has the band scope. Still not delivered for the 436. LTR finder is barely functional. Not useful most of the time.

The way they dangled another carrot in front of our faces with "huge tremendous, fantastic feature" was uncalled for. You think they would learn not to over promise and under deliver by now. There was no mention ever during that initial announcement this would be a pay for feature.

And as was expected, the to be released by end of month is now to be delivered next month.

Where is my $100 feature that was to be included with my current radio? You remember the advanced analyze features you point out as a $100 value. I paid for that, it has not been delivered. Now you have the nerve to ask $50 for this upgrade?

I think we at least deserve to be told if advanced analyze functions have been deemed beyond their grasp.

Start treating your customers honestly and respectfully.

I guess you missed the thread where he said they ran into unexpected issues with the UID on some systems, and that delayed the release.

So...

Uniden releases the firmware as-is with the bugs, and they get blasted by users (like the last release).

Uniden delays the firmware until it is right, and they get blasted by users.

There is absolutely no way for Uniden to win in this situation until they put their R&D and production into building a TARDIS.

Yes - Paul and the other 20M potential customers, and that percentage of the 20M that own x36 scanners. (roughly 6% of the x36 owners including several which have already confirmed their part of that number)

It's amazing they ever added P25, as most of the country doesn't own a scanner, right?

BTW Paul lives roughly 300 miles from SA, so I don't think it's even in radio range. (although I'm sure he drove there a few times to test the firmware).

There is a new type they have called "bifocals" and even "trifocals". :D

They also have progressive lenses.

Go back and read what I posted again.
Or maybe wait until you are over 40-50, THEN you WILL understand.
