Don't you think Uniden would have released DMR from the beginning if it was at all possible. That that alone would have increased initial scanner sales. Do you really think they would waited two years to enable that option.

That makes as much sense as saying that Tesla would have released their Autopilot feature "from the beginning if it was at all possible". They only released it recently because that's when their coders got it working. The same would apply to Uniden; whatever the new feature is, it's not likely to have been something they developed and just sat on a shelf, functional and completed, waiting for a time to put it in play.

Almost two year later, some of the advertised features haven't been delivered yet.

Uniden sales of existing x36HP's are slow, so DMR / TRBO would ignite sales again.

Maybe sales are slow because were at two years and still missing advertised features. When in Uniden history have they updated a two year old scanner to give it new life to help increase sales? Again I'm just going by Uniden's track record. Funny how all this is coming out just before Whistler releases there new models.

I will say this, I hope Uniden works some magic when it comes to huge, tremendous, fantastic feature addition. Who remembers Shock and Awe and how that turned out, LOL

Personally, I'm hoping its a band scope. I used the scope on my BCD396XT, A LOT when searching for milair activity between 225-400 MHz. I really miss it on the 436HP.

We released updates to scanners that had been discontinued over 5 years so that they would continue to work on rebanded systems. I guess that doesn't strictly meet the definition of "new life to help increase sales" since those models were no longer for sale, but we did release the update to our existing (and about 2yo IIRC) line at about the same time so perhaps that does.

I know you guys have always released updates several years past the scanners life. I'm just referring to huge, tremendous, fantastic feature addition that would increase sales as XTS3000 has stated. I will make sure I clarify next time. If at the end of the month you guys do pull off a tremendous, fantastic feature addition release, I will be the first to apologize. I have no problem with that.

I just updated my Sentinel to 1.05 (copyright 2014) and ripped it apart in a disassembler. Nothing important was seen except a ton of references to the HP-1. I'm still betting on TRBO / DMR.

Ah, yes, I never said "increase sales" (although I hope it does). And, my opinion of the feature's merits might be somewhat biased.

I know that wasn't coming from you.

I agree, adding some of the features of the XT line of scanners would be a nice addition.

EDACS digital is old school. Those systems will be phased out within the next 5 years most likely. Or as I speak.

I think Uniden should get one more shot to fix its reputation and if they come good with it and on time like they said they would then kudos to them. If not, and something bad goes wrong again then it should be a blood bath until the death of the corporation.

I think this is completely fair at this point.

Upman saying ""huge, tremendous, fantastic feature addition", my guess is this feature is NOT a feature promised when the scanner first was released like missing features such as Andriod app, ad-hoc Wi-Fi, Analyze full features.

Seeing as the x36's already have the ability to decode two time slots in TDMA phase II, my guess this new feature will be Moto TRBO decode.

I would s**t myself right here and now on command if that were the case.

Or, those of us that like the product and don't have issues with it could continue to purchase Unidens and those that don't like it could purchase Whistlers. Calling for the death of the corporation resulting in the loss of thousands of jobs seems a bit extreme, but that's just me...

... could someone clarify for me... I have not applied the latest updates to the x36's as I don't use them due to not being able to see the display on the 436 or 536 but am I to understand that an update will be coming by the end of the month that will address the dim light on the display or am I misunderstanding this... thanks... Bob...
The light issue mentioned pertains to the light staying on and the Replay settings added with the latest update. It does not pertain to the display failure issue.

Since this thread is causing some confusion I will post the original thread where Upman made his comment.

I for one would be a new buyer if trbo was introduced here and carried forward in New products. As it is now I'm I have zero need for anything new P25. Turbo is creeping up and has me about surrounded.

I also have a county on each side of me running MOTO TRBO with 2 counties over adding a multi channel multi site MOTO TRBO trunking sites with NXDN starting to sneak into the picture. Yes I am running SDR also just like scanners better.
