Yes Sir I have and Phase I and Phase II were added together out of the box. Phase II was never added with a firmware update or a software update once the radio was released.

So to add more modulations once a radio has been released is nearly impossible and has never been done

Oh man...rough crowd here.

That's because you have Unihaters posting. The assertion that the x36 hardware does not support TDMA is laughable. But, I guess if you twist the definition of TDMA, you could make a case for it, as I'm sure some will.

The Phase II was added (via firmware) just prior to GRE going belly-up.

The fact is that as long as the VOCODER supports a mode, it is possible to add it (copyright issues aside). I believe the x36 VOCODER used supports several current forms of TDMA.

Your credibility: \ . [ . . . . . . . . . ]

Might be best to stop while you're way, way behind...

I am not hating.. I simply asked why not just tell us..

As for the hardware.. I never said it was not possible, that was dreamed up by someone else.. Since the hardware does two timeslots for P25 Phase II already I would think it could be made to do two timeslots of DMR, which is not terribly different in specification. As an owner of the 436.. I truly hope the upgrade is for DMR.. if Uniden released a DMR update I could forgive them for the past two years.

Yes, they're HATERS. Got to &!+€# about something all the time. Haters! :D

Let's just think for a moment about the stuff still on the back burner. Now, if you were planning something really BIG, and the code had to be significantly modified to integrate it into the existing code (with all its tenticals), wouldn't it make more sense to get it all done at the same time instead of piecemealing it only to have to redo it again?

And could this last release have been more about a preparation for the next big step?

Just saying...

Wasn't there an UPMan 1-5 listing on the x36 development a few months back. Anyone have the link? I believe were still on V1.

If I recall correctly the phrase was something along the lines of "we have a roadmap for this platform stretching into 201x" ... I don't remember if x was a 6 or 7 or 8.

Yes, but there was a more detailed breakdown. This was back in 2014 when it was posted.

I think at this point with the X36 radios with all of the hardware problems in the past and still hardware issues that are lingering with that serious hissing noise that the 536HP seems to have would be to scrap the radio and work on another new flagship. The homepatrol II and the 996P2 do not have those issues.

Re-build the radio and make it completely solid with all of the same features that it has so far and add more modulations. Its a win win for them and people will buy more radios since it will have the ability to add DMR NXDN and MOTOTRBO for future growth. I dont care if the radio cost Northbound of a 1000.00 USD.

We all want a radio that will be built like a tank and that is completely solid with software and firmware abilities to grow the radio.

Oh and BTW I am not a Uniden Hater. I have the BCD536HP and 3 BCD996P2 and the Homepatrol II to have some flavor. I am still butt hurt over the issues that Uniden has put us all through over the past almost 2 years now. Plus I do not like hearing a hissing noise all the time on my radio. It's annoying and makes my brain hurt. Plus with the release of the firmware update this past week has put a bad taste in my mouth.

UPMan make this all stop and communicate back to your family that things really need an overhaul and get us on the right track again. Any kind of discounts will sooth the pain too to all of us X36 owners

You said the two things that NEVER mix well.....besides Undone is NOT like my family. In my family, we see everything through to the end correctly the FIRST TIME!

I'll try not holding my breath on MOTOTRBO. I'm thinking it is just going to be yet another lame duck "update" for a scanner that is still not worthy of the things it was sold originally to do.

If I'm wrong then so be it.

Its like when you go to a job interview. If you don't wear a suit and tie or dress like you are going to church or you do not present yourself in a proper manner you will be judged on your initial first impression.

This is what sticks forever with people. FIRST IMPRESSIONS.

WE ARE ALL STILL BUTT HURT because we did not get what we paid which is 600.00 bucks worth of scrap metal so far.

And to think we're just a few days away from Nov 16. Hard to believe it was almost 2 years ago that we all got excited about a new scanner announcement.

Now its been almost 2 years of complete frustration and anger and all we get now is a firmware update that is broken and Paul from Uniden that keeps dangling the carrot in front of the rabbit. Plus a Siren App that has a band-aid over the wound that will not heal with a dirty infection under the surface that is ready to burst at a moments notice.

Just remember, it was someone else's fault for the delays.
