• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Looks as if the 12082 model is the correct version of the VC-4000 for the 100P.

I bought a couple of "older" new in the box model VC4000s CH-017231-002 Rev-B to use as 12v input battery-only chargers in the car. These are tri-chemistry and accept the batteries from the 100P with four contacts including LiIons with the extra guide fins. The -001 is for batteries with 5 contacts.
So the ones you have a good for charging the batteries but won't hold the actual radio. I would need the 12082 for that. Thank you for the resource also.

Here is the Harris brochure for the XG-100P's VC4000 charger although nowhere on the sheet does it mention the 12082 part number (dumb)

Right, plus I would hope that the VC4000 specific to the XG-100P can handle the smart chip OEM batteries.

Great info. Now I just gotta find one. Pretty sure New London Tech has them but the price is a bit high for an obsolete part IMO.

Quick aside without starting a new thread - does the XG100P display the unit ID when receiving a transmission like a Motorola radio does? Seems like it doesn't?

If you use a OEM high capacity LiPo smart chip battery and a OEM charger you will see and decipher even encrypted unit IDs.

Hell I may even be able to see into the future!
That would be great to have considering the way prices on Harris 100 series radios have oscillated to the extremes.:LOL:

As far as New London's price on the car charger, I think it is okay considering they are new/old stock and so very rare.
