To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a project requiring Flat Audio (Filtered/Squelched). I know it's Pin #21. What I'm needing to verify, should I use Pin #1 for Ground, tie into Pin #26 Speaker - (Ground), or something else. Any help would be appreciated.

There is only one ground and that is pin 1. This radio has a balanced speaker output and pin 26 is not a ground. If you apply a ground to pin 26, or pin 20 for that matter, it will probably wreck the audio PA.

thats not true, Pin 14 is also ground on XTL/APX, only thing is on XTL pin 14 must be tied to Pin 15 Emergency for power up to occur, but Pin 14 can be used just as Pin 1 can.

And yes to get Audio out of an XTL/APX, you are going to want to have Audio + on Pin 21 and Audio - on Pin1or14 to have a complete audio circuit.

Thanks, I totally forgot about Pin 14/15 jumper for the Emergency Switch. Since I'll never have the need for the Emergency switch I'll tie into that loop and keep Pin 1 reserved if needed for another ground at a later time.

Actually power-up will occur whether the 14/15 jumper is there or not. The problem is that if the jumper isn't there, the radio will start trying to send emergency banners. Very annoying.

While I had this problem a couple of times before I retired (on radios I was programming legitimately for work), I assume it would apply on a radio set up for NAS as well.
