If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello all, i have recently purchased a XTS3000 model 2. the flashcode is 500008-000000-1 and the model number is H09RDF9PW7BN. I have a few questions about programming options. First off, is there a guide or chart of what all possibilities that the buttons/switches can be programmed to do? And, i also have the Motorola RMN5023BSP01 mic for it (w/o the channel selector). I heard that the buttons on the mic are programmable. Do they just mimic the buttons on the radio? Thank you ahead of time for any feedback!!

all the info is in the help files in the CPS. The buttons on the mic will mimic the ones on the side of the radio.

I have a 3000 and 5000 that I programmed. Let me know The buttons on the side have numerous configurations. Its best to sit down with someone who has one or has the CPS to do it . I have my 3000 set up for ABC PL on Blank PL off the orange as emergency, the secure switch locks out the keypad. Top purple monitor, 1st under that light, 2nd nuicence delete. I turn the scan on and off on the front of the radio. My XTS5000 is the same but the ABC is scan on scan off PL off

thanks for the info!!! Yea i now realize how customizable these radios are. Now another question. I know the XTS3000 has "zones". How are these set up? like this? ex. "zone 1" has 3 banks of 16 channels. "zone 2" the same? if you use the A-B-C switch to change banks? Am i making any sense?

No - In this model a "zone" is a "bank". A would be bank 1 and B would be bank 2 and C would be bank 3 if using the A-B-C switch to switch between zones. You can also switch between zones with the soft keys below the display if they are programed to do so and can go beyond 3 zones. Off hand I don't remember how many zones is the max.

ok, thank you. Also, what is up with the antenna color codes? I also ordered a UHF stubby antenna when i ordered the radio. In the description, it said "Frequency: 400-520 MHz" I just recieved it today, and the color of the bottom (where it screws into the radio) is red. does this mean that it will only Tx/Rx between 403-433 MHz? Please tell me that it will Tx/Rx in the 450-460 range better than the normal flexible whip.

What is the moto part number on the package it came in?

I am not up on the color codes.

There will not be much difference between a stubby and a whip but the whip
should perform a little bit better than a stubby duck if it is noticeable.

As far as what i can tell yes that is an 403-433 Mhz stubby you got there. The proper one you should have gotten is the Green color bottom if your looking to Tx/Rx on 435-470 Mhz range. Hope you can send it back and get the right one. Also stubbies are good if your close to a repeater but if your planning to be a far distance from the repeater site then I would go for the whip instead.

Actually according to the Motorola gurus, the helical antenna is better
for transmit and the whip is better on receive. Test them both and see
what you think.
