As far as Motorola products, yes...APX line is the only one capable of TDMA Phase II trunking.Ok makes sense now. But the TDMA Phase II only works with the APX line?

Ok, it’s all starting to make sense. Thank you for the info!As far as Motorola products, yes...APX line is the only one capable of TDMA Phase II trunking.
Fwiw, there is kenwood digital lines that offer phase 1, phase 2, relm bk also.
I'm not a bk kind of guy but know many that swear by them. Kenwood to me was more ideal for p25 phase 1 and 2 applications. I also use a apx8000 and tend to carry the nx5000 more then the apx.
I’m not familiar with dongle, can you elaborate on that for me in Layman’s terms? You can still get a refresh dongle for the XTL2500 and if you have the right .cvn file you can still do a firmware upgrade. Even though the refresh dongle is "available" for the 2500, if you have the .cvn file, you can use it to upgrade PM1500's, as well as XTL/XTS 1500, 2500 and 5000 radios.
USB "dongle" that acts like a key to unlock the firmware upgrade. Also used for FLASHport updates to add features to subscriber radios. Pictured is a feature update for APX consolettes, but it's the same concept for XTS/XTL.I’m not familiar with dongle, can you elaborate on that for me in Layman’s terms?
ok that makes more sense, and yes that’s the route I was going when talking to my the sales rep. Just didn’t know that’s (dongle) what it was called. It's a USB device. It looks like a bulky thumb drive with an I button inside. They are programmed by Motorola with x number of refreshes. Every time you refresh a radio (firmware update), the count drops down by one. You also need the .cvn file. I believe the last one released was R20.50.10. I know I downloaded R20.50.09. I don't think I ever got the very last one and you can no longer download them. I spoke to M last week and was told all they will provide is the .cvn file that will firmware update an XTS/XTL2500. Any other Astro series radio, the file they send you will not have the corresponding .cvn file. You need the previous release .cvn file(s) that contain firmware updates for ALL Astro series radios.
Ok I’ve see that before just never used it.. very helpful though! Here's an actual FLASHkey from an XTS firmware upgrade.
and the famous 20.50.10 was only given to those customers at the end of the line during the Astro 25 series who had specific cases open with support. That being said, the CVNs are out there, but as mentioned, a proper refresh dongle is required to do HOST/DSP uplifts correctly.I believe the last one released was R20.50.10. Thanks for backing my thoughts lolThe Relm/BK pxxx portables are junk.

I believe so. But being that we're phasing out the legacy stuff, I've honestly trashed alot of the SRNs (or now MTNs) dealing with the old hardware. What was the corrected issue between 20.50.09 and 20.50.10? I cant recall someone said it before, something to do with Harris systems?
I just wish I could click on them. Lol
Ok so what is the problem with them R17.01.01 and what do you mean by hand grenade?R17.01.01 is definitely a hand grenade with a loose pin for your radio. You should upgrade ANY radio that has that version.
