• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I've looked through both the user manual as well as the forums and could not find an answer for this. The battery life indicator on my XTS 1500 suddenly disappeared, not sure if I pressed something, but does anybody know how I can have it displayed again? Thanks

Yes, Is your charger an Impress charger? You battery needs to do a full cycle in order to show battery again
Yes the charger is. Sorry I am not familiar with cycles, does that mean I need to let it die, and then charge it up to full?

Didn't you previously own the WPLN4111 charger? You should be familiar with the recalibration cycle, when the charger LED turns yellow. If the replacement charger you got from eBay is in fact OEM IMPRES, then you should be able to force a recalibration cycle by putting the battery in the charger, wait for the LED to turn red, then pull the battery out for 2 seconds, put it back in. Do this until the LED turns yellow, and let it go through the full cycle (yellow > red > green flashing > green steady)

My charger is motorola OEM, is that the same thing is IMPRES?
No. There are plenty of OEM Motorola chargers that are non-IMPRES. If you have an IMPRES battery and want the XTS's battery indicator to function correctly, you need an OEM IMPRES charger.

Well there's my problem, the one I purchased from Ebay is a ntn1667a, which is not IMPRES

fyi the Impress charger LED will show one of three colors Red for charging Yellow for the conditioning cycle Green for charged
when yellow it can take up to 8 hours to discharge the battery then will go red(charging). I had to deal with Public Safety and users that were used to Red/Green light and forced the charge cycle. The charger would indicate battery full charge but the internal circuit in battery had no clue as to the actual charge status.I have seen XTS/APX series turn on and shut down. Or the display would show gibbirsh .Saw it happen on HT 1250s when Impress batteries were used. Also make sure the firmware in the charge is up to the latest version for the model charger. Most of the shop tech's don't even know about this. It can also cause the indicator to not be display.tho most shops love it because it up battery sales.
