Chicago ARTCC (ZAU) posted all their low and high sector maps, and a lot of other cool information!

Ugh I was tricked.
Howdy.

I am very familiar with Chicago Center operations and sector charts. I took a look at this "VATSIM" information and have determined that their "sectors" are pretty much identical to the actual sector boundaries. However, VATSIM does not "simulate" all of the actual sectors at ZAU. It seems they leave out most of the ultra high and many of the low altitude sectors.

This VATSIM organization most likely procured this information from someone on the "inside", as the FAA does not readily publish said information to the general public. However, it is by no means protected or classified.

All you have to do is submit a FOIA request. You don't need anyone on the inside.

Let me know when it comes back. It's bugging me so bad that I can't reconcile sectors and frequencies. I love to be able to see a plane and know what freq he's talking on. ZAU's airspace, especially around Chicago just confuses me.

Attached are my own ZAU High Altitude (FL240 and above) sector charts I put together based on official charts as well as from personal monitoring. Any comments on accuracy or any updates or additions appreciated.

What I got back from FAA FOIA request:

Thanks for posting. That was fast ! You submitted the FOIA request last week ? That's impressive for the FAA. Now if they can just make them readable.

It's actually on a web form now. I made a few requests to the central service area a few years ago and I was pretty impressed by the coordinator.

Also, the FOIA library on the left hand side of this page has some good content available too.

No joke. That looks like BEARZ FL-240-350? 1??. 125? LOL. I don't think it's BEARZ bc that's the low sector.
