This is a great install.... We just got done punching 4 holes in the top of my black Tahoe (07) and the console (which drops into the factory location) will be in later this week. We have a Spectra (900MHz), a RH-96 remote head for the BCD15X scanner and an Icom ID-800H being put in. (I wanted to keep cup holders...) As soon as it's done, I'll post some photos too.

Dave,

I would love to see what your Tahoe looks like. I will try to get some exterior pics of mine up. I need to put D-STAR in as well. We have a full stack on the air, again thanks to the W8DIG club. Do you have a 900mhz repeater on the air?

Its mostly Amateur radio. Not law enforcement as there is no lights or siren controller. Some hams prefer motorola gear.

Wow,,for Am-radio thats a hell of a setup!
i see what you mean regaring the switches to
operate the cherries,,,

was so overwhelmed by that sexy set up..makes me
want to get teh vehicle dock for my rugged notebook
and start -Pimpin- my durango!

AWESOME Set up,
Spotless Install,,
Overall STELLAR Job,,

Cheers!

Looks awesome. I didn't know about that SSV version. Could you post exterior pictures of the whole truck?

Frank & Cowboy,

I took a "cellular look alike" CB antenna and attached it to an old NMO base that was laying around. It's connected to the Midland CB and works well due to the huge ground the SUV provides.

The cup holders are an option from RAM Mounting systems.

I will try to get exterior pics posted soon.

Thanks!

Can you tell me what connectors you used to connect the Aircard to your truck antenna and which specific antennas you used for this?

Hi rki616,

The antenna is the Antenex TRAB821/18503 Phantom. This is a dual band antenna for 800mhz and 1950mhz. I used a Larsen NMO mount with dual shield coax and an FME connector already installed. The air card has a coax jumper from the RF connector to the female FME connector on the end of the low loss coax.

Here is my install with the Havis Console installed. (I do not have the SSV Model, I have the Tahoe LTZ)

If you think the bracket for the ID800 looks strange, it's because it's not a radio they make a bracket for, and I improvised a little.
