Just heard another mystery ... 453.6375mhz. P25 Nac293 encrypted... :( Sc21 tg 1437 encrypted ... guessing to be parole officers, but not in the db. And another just heard @ 14:14. Tg 3769 encrypted of course ... :-( 73, n9zas

It could be parole officers. Maybe they needed a secure channel.

As far as Phase 1 transmissions being heard on certain towers, if a radio affiliated with the talkgroup on a site is Phase 1 the conversation will revert to Phase 1 on that site, even if all other radios are Phase 2 capable.

The system could be programmed not to allow Phase 1 transmissions on a site or a talkgroup but AFAIK the system is not yet programmed to do so.

Meaning that some of these tg's may be phase 2, so audio may not be passed on phase 1? I'm hearing encrypted audio on most of these, not noted in the db. 73, n9zas

The SC21 controller appears to be programmed to facilitate both Phase 1 and Phase 2 on the sites that support Phase 2 at all. 149 is the predominant one although reports of others exist.

If all radios affiliated with a talkgroup on the towers that support Phase 2 are operating in Phase 2 mode the conversation will be in Phase 2. It only takes 1 radio to be affiliated that is set for Phase 1 to cause it to revert to Phase 1.

While the controller should be capable of forcing talkgroups to Phase 2 it doesn't seem to be programmed that way yet. It generally isn't the talkgroup itself that determines the choice of Phase 1 or 2, it is the radios. ALL participant subscriber radios must be in Phase 2 mode for the conversation to go Phase 2.

At some point I expect SC21 will program the controller to deny Phase 1 at certain sites once all the radios are reprogrammed or replaced.

Its not the talk groups we need to be paying special attention to it is the Radio ID being used on that talk group that we need to be recording. the radio IDs will help us determine the users of the talk groups. Also FYI all IDOC comm's including parole officers will encrypted by June 2016 is what I am hearing. Also most of the new lake county system will be encrypted and phase 2 so good luck with that. I have said it before and I will say it again we need to be more low key about who we share information with this day and age. its not the 90s anymore everything is accessible at the click of a button. When Agencies start seeing there channels being published they will more than likely encrypt. would you want someone listening to all of your business calls on your cell phone? NO ! and these police officers and departments are tired of being treated like they are here for entertainment purposes as websites like broadcastify and cell phone apps make them out to be more like a streaming radio station instead of the necessary protection and services they are providing. My advice start a private group I h am member of about four or five now and limit the amount of information made public. Sure it may suck but it also may keep your favorite local agencies from going silent. just a thought. I'm sure people will ***** and moan about this post but its like I said these agencies provide protective and emergency services they are not being broadcast for your personal enjoyment.

I knew all of IDOC was probably going to Starcom21 when they were turning the Legacy 800MHz Motorola Systems into Starcom21 sites.

More Snow And IDOT Talkgroups

. Yeah I have a few tg's I've added and locked out that I'll get around to adding to update everyone. Last night was pretty funny while listening to various IDOT tg's since many of those guys were big lotto ticket holders! :D. I heard some daydreams between drivers, until they realized the lottery rolled over again... 73, n9zas

More snow is coming so its a good time to confirm more talkgroups for IDOT.

IDOT District 7 talkgroups

I updated the database via a recent submission. I incorporated the submitter's updates with the data currently in the database and wanted to make sure this is correct as now I don't know which TG Albion and Olney use.

8608 Lawrenceville (was listed as Olney)
8609 Flora
8610 Fairfield (was listed as Albion)
8611 Albion?, District 7 Bridge channel?

I have heard the following units on these talk groups during the last two snow storms.

TG 8606 has been used by Marshall units in Clark County.

TG 8607 has been used by units from Newton covering Jasper and Crawford County

TG 8608 has been used by IDOT units in Lawrence County

TG 8609 has been used by Flora IDOT units and they have been handling Richland County in addition to Clay County. I have heard no trucks recently using Olney designator.

TG 8610 is Fairfield which covers Wayne County and there is a yard in Browns (Previously Albion) which also uses this TG. Fairfield Supervises crews in Wayne Edwards and Wabash County.

TG 8611 there is a bridge crew that works out of the Browns yard (DOT moved from Albion to a yard in Browns) but I have not heard any traffic on this TG recently.

There seems to have been some realignment of Supervisors and areas covered in District 7, it appears the yard in Olney and their territory has been merged with the Flora yard. Olney/Richland County trucks used to be heard on the same TG as Lawrenceville but I have not heard any units with Olney yard designators. The Browns/Albion yard trucks have the FF designator on their trucks and have been Supervised through Fairfield for many years.
