2024 VHF Low Band Logs

Out of curiosity, are any of the larger departments still using 33 MHz for their primary dispatch frequency? Most of the 33 MHz stuff I hear now via skip is cross-patched to 450 MHz repeaters or 700/800 MHz trunking systems. Low band is just maintained for alerting or mutual aid.

California made a decent appearance here today for about 45 minutes - sometimes at good level - Also an interesting one on 37.920 - snow ploughs being kept busy - multiple road references (Ontario, Dague hollow, Brady, Amos, Kusch) all in the area of Scenery Hill / North Bethlehem, PA. I see nothing listed on FCC for it.

A different one on 37.920, more snow ploughs had references to "Bunker Hill" and "Oak to Poplar" roads but no idea where that is even after lots of searching.

Hey Marvin, 37.940 173.8 is Norwich, CT. KCI700, public works. 35.280 151.4 is a quarry- hard to get place references from this one all I have is "Chicken Hill" - two quarries listed one in CT one in PA.

Looks like there's a Chicken Hiil in PA. My money is on Martin Stone Quarries. Bechtelsville, PA

Been watching this 45.48 pl 162.2 WEMA Command Net i hear a data burst from time to time at different times during the day and night.Hardly ever hear and voice traffic on it.Dont hear anything on 37.50 pl 162.2 or 37.260 pl 162.2 ..They are not far from me maybe 60 miles.Angelo

30 feet of wire formed into a loop and fed with coax bottom center, braid to one side centre to the other. The shape means a direct 1:1 match into 50 ohm coax and its resonant on 33.5 mhz. It works pretty decent. Supported with bamboo canes top and bottom on a fishing pole a few feet above ground.

As ecps92 says - First Student. I had them talking about an accident at "route 2 and elmridge road" in Feb 2023.
Looks like Pawcatuck. They have a base there on Extrusion Drive. The route 2 / elmridge intersection isnt that far away.
So, somewhere in south east CT.

I have 31.44 down as W NOBLE HAMILTON & SON INC Concrete, MD, back in 2013.
31.8 supplies "concrete sand" - my bet is that it's ERNEST JOLY & SONS INC from CT. (although have not confirmed that)
