996XT System Quick Key Toggle off issue

Maybe I'm all thumbs, but I'm having difficultly toggling 2-digit system quick key on and off.

Per the "Easier to Read Manual: "To toggle System/Site/Search quick keys on or off for a single digit system/site/search, press the number key assigned to the system/site/search.
To turn a double-digit system/site/search on or off, Press (.)No first then enter the 2 digits."

I have no issues toggling single digit systems, but most of the time I don't seem to be able to toggle two-digit systems by the "Press (.)No first then enter the 2 digits" method. I just get an error tone upon hitting the second digit and the scanner continues to scan.

Have I messed up a setting somewhere?

BTW, I'm using FreeScan if that makes a difference.

Error tone, then that means you don't have that quick key # assigned to any programmed system in the radio. Pushing wrong #'s? Always try oh the eraser on pencil or similar.
