OK here's the file; my eyes are getting cross eyed right now, so if there's errors in the file, sri about that...

Even though the file has a txt extension, just change it to a csv extension and you should be good to go. It does have headers.

I have not attempted to create scan lists for the Andrews trunk; that's something I leave to the users. Also make sure you set the correct parameters for Andrews' trunk if you plan to use it.

Data for this file comes, in part, from the Feb and Mar 2005 Milcom column in MT magazine written by Larry van Horn pp52 and 53 (yes it appeared in the same place both months).

Three hours later and here's my file. I'm going to finish the text tags for banks 3 and 4 tommorow. It's 1AM and my eyes are closing. Please make suggetion and corrections if neccessary. If I have some extra time I might add the Flying Knights etc. but my mian focus for now is the Thunderbirds.

Something tells me that my grand plan to visit the show Friday (today) instead of the extremely busy Saturday and Sunday shows is going to be rained out. And if I am supposed to be leaving here about 8 a.m., why am I still up at 3:15?

Dedicated lunacy, TinEar, that's why :D
I know, I'm guilty of it too, from time to time.... onto more important business... Just a few additions and corrections

From Ron Perron's article 'Monitoring the White Tops of HMX-1' in the
Sept 2004 MT

265.8 Squadron Common
375.0 Air-Air

One freq I fotgot to add from the Mar 2005 'MTs Annual Air Show Guide'
122.775 Sky Typers Team

and in that same issue, an article by Ron called 'The Busiest Air Base
in the United States' a couple of Potomac Freqs; they don't fit the
migration pattern of using .x25 steps, so how accurate they are now I'm
not sure;

281.8 Approach
335.5 Approach/Departures

and one or two more
120.75 area helos

Others from his article
141.7(AM)/292.2 'Mussel Control' 1st Helo Squadron
351.2 459th Air Refuel Wing
314.25 'Boxer ops' 201st 201st AS DC ANG
280.2 'Cobra base' VAQ-209 US Marines reserve
243.6 VMFA-321 US Marines reserve
272.4 VMFA-321 US Marines reserve
280.45 VMFA-321 US Marines reserve
310.35 VMFA-321 US Marines reserve
302.6 Base Ops VMFA-321 US Marines reserve

I'd appreciate hearing about anything that needs fixing in the file in the Andrews bank. I need to update the Grove Md.Airports page, and the data I had there is several months old, and has likely changed somewhat.

Not that anyone would be flying today (heavy wind and rain makes for poor helo ops), that 120.75 freq for helos is a little odd; I've heard helos on 122.7 quite frequently when I worked in PG county (for almost 7 years)

air freq file

Mike,
Thanks for the txt file. I plan to use it to program my BC296D. I don't currently have the ARC250 software, but I plan on getting a copy soon. In the meantime is it possible to copy your txt file data into the software that came with my 296? I'd hate to have to retype it all, but hey that's definately easier than programming the radio w/o a pc. If possible I'd love to get your txt file data in a ssd file to open an write to my 296 with the uniden software. If not possible, I just want to say thanks alot for the freqs info you provided.
If my schedule permits I plan to go on Sunday and I want to program my scanner tonite just in case.

Dan I MIGHT be able to do something about this. I have an older copy of Scancat Lite Plus, and I THINK it can write ssd files. Let me go and check. Please email me privately so we can coordinate.

If not, you won't need to do all the retyping; if you change the file extension to csv, you can use Excel or Works Spreadsheet to do the mapping. Use control-c to copy data into the Windows clipboard, then control-v to insert it into your software (if it supports it)

Obviously no show today - not even an amphibious version for the ex navy folks. I was really looking forward to attending today and then gathering as many freqs as possible over the weekend when the merry hordes arrived. The weather is starting to clear west of here per radar and chances of rain are listed as 30% for tomorrow and then just cloudy for Sunday. If that cloud base is high enough the show will go on. If.

Anyone have the Freq. for the AIR BOSS at the show?

This year I get to see the show. The last 2-3 years I had to work playing around with Fire engines and Ambo's .

I'm going Sat. (if it stops raining)

But Sunday is OK too.

Thanks Guys.

Nope, 'fraid not. Scancat Lite Plus can read ss6 files, but not write them.
Anyway, you do have the trick for copy/paste, if that software supports it.

Unfortunately this afternoon an emergency situation came up and I wasn't able to finish the file completely. For those going to the show Sunday, it'll be ready Saturday night.

Need some help loading the air show file in my Pro 96

I just bought the 20-289 cable and downloaded Win96 today and I'm trying to set up my Pro 96 for the show this weekend. I downloaded the 'andyshow' file, changed the extention to .csv, created a new template and tried to import it. Nothing came across- user error no doubt. I did turn on Extended Frequencies using the s/w and manually put a couple of Mil Air freq's into my scanner so I know the connection is good.

I intend to learn to use Win96 when I have some more time, but I could really use a quick tip on how to load this file into my Pro 96 so I can get up and running for the show tomorrow.

Thanks!

Sure don't kirkman. That's one of the freqs on my priority list to find during this show. Although several freqs were used during practice yesterday, the Air Boss was not one I could identify.

Loading Air Show file in Pro 96- and scanners at JSOH

An update- I did succeed in loading the V Folder .P96 file- thanks!

Regarding scanner usage, I have carried a handheld for many years to the Joint Services Open House without any problems. In recent years I park at RFK and pass thru the metal detectors, and no one has ever asked about the radio. I used to see a couple of guys with a Radio Flyer wagon loaded with RS base scanners (they are probably members of this board!), but that was before the off site parking restrictions kicked in. This will be my first year with Mil-Air reception, so it should be fun!

Something else to watch for - I understand that Andrews' 380 mhz land mobile trunk is up and running. It might be interesting to see if the 400 mhz trunk is still up as well; I had heard that the Ft.Meade 400 mhz system is a lot quieter now that they too have a 380 mhz system. It'd be interesting to see if Andrews followed suit.

No I'm afraid I don't know the exact freqs, but being so close, it ought to be easy to spot. A broad scan starting in the 380-390 mhz area should bring up the noise, even on a duckie.

The Meade MPs and Fire Department are still on the 400mhz and they are the largest users of the system. I periodically check the new system with pro96com, but haven't seen any real activity yet..

And the Andrews 400 mHz system was still operating as of last night. I've not noticed any reduction in traffic on the Ft. Meade system either. Between MP/Fire usage as Chuck mentioned and the base maintenance functions (TGs 912/944), it all seems the same.

Does Johnson Controls have the contract for most of that activity these days or are they just confined to such things as snow removal/road maintenance?

That's rather interesting; the info I got was from a Moto rep who works at DoD. Guess he's not quite as informed as he thinks.

Thanx Mike
