I listen tot he Ft. Meade system daily and have heard no drop off in comms.

Also, Thanks N3BXV for the notes on Johnson Controls. I heard some mumbles about it all, but this answers everything. IMHO...I think Ft. Meade is gonna hate this out-sourcing thing in the future. But it seems the "trendy" thing to do in DOD, right now.

Just a couple general questions, having never monitored air shows until today..

What are the chances of the same freqs being used on Sunday?
Do they usually stay the same from one day to the next? Also do they change frequently from show to show.?

The 139.15 freq was seemingly used by the F-16s today. That's a local TAC freq for the F-16s from the DC-ANG and the VA-ANG. Also using it today were the F-16s from the NJ-ANG (using callsign COSMIC). They then switched to their usual 138.425 for chat (calling it channel V-6). I'm not sure if the NJ F-16s were part of the show or if they were just doing the DC cover today but they were flying overhead. They were working with HUNTRESS (NORAD) while on 139.15 which makes me think they were not part of the show but I'm not sure of that.

[Edit] Mike, they should stay the same tomorrow unless someone reports a problem on one of the freqs during the debriefings. The Thunderbirds stay pretty much on the same set of freqs. The current set has been used for at least a couple of years.

I listened to some of the T-Birds from home today. Might try to get down there tomorrow.

Okay here's the final copy of the .p96 file. Note that I forgot to check the "extended freqs" box on the previous file. I also filled in the rest of the text tags. Many, many thanks to Al (TinEar) for the huge supply of Mil-Air freqs.

final freq list from airshow

Unfortunately Im wasn't able to attend as I had hoped, but I tried to scan the freqs from home. I got my scanner setup late on Sat morning so I missed a good bit of activity. As this was my first attempt to monitor airshow freqs I want to ceate a file to help me be more prepared for the next opportunity. I would apprecite either a list or perhaps a txt or csv file from someone who attended so I can add many the many freqs that I didn't monitor from home. Also if possible a list of talkgroup ids rom the Andrews system. I was able to monitor their trunk system fairly well, but I probably missed groups that were active when AirForce 1 took off on Sat am. I would have loved to see that in person.

On a side note the Blue Angels arrived at Andrews lastnight and will be here in MD this week.

Moe, I noticed in the Andrews TRS banks, that they are not checked for using the custom frequency table. Should it be?

Custom Frequency Table

Base: 406.0000
Spacing: 25.0
Offset: 380

Thanks

Dank and others;

Re the Blue Angels; look for the thread 'Blue Angels frequencies for the Naval Commencement' further down in this forum. I put together yet another .csv file for this, again based on the 2005 MT article. It could probably stand a few updates by now (check the aircraft forum here and milcom, ect.) but it's a good starting point.

Oh and insofar as Andrews TRS talkgroups - just go to the RRDB. That should also be a good place to start.

Andrews TRS

Mike,
I did start with the RRDB file for Andrews to get a listing of the ids, however they total over 100 and my scanner a BC 296D only holds 100. I tried to eliminate ones I thought may not be used, but I entered many of them later when they showed active on an activity search. Just as an fyi, to my previou request to you last Friday, I ended up using the demo version of ARC250, (I plan to order it this week) to copy and paste much of your csv file. I then copied my 'new' scanner programming back to an ssd filefor possible use with the uniden software.

Thnaks again,
Dan

Yeah I forgot to do that, I wound up doing it manually when I got to the show.

TinEar and others; that list isn't bad, but it doesn't include several new freqs that the MT article reported. In addition, the Angels seem to have started using freqs in the 138-144 mhz range for ground ops in NFM mode using the newer 12.5 khz splits (something that came to light after the article went to press). I would imagine you would need to be close to Andrews to be able to hear those ops, so unless you are, I wouldn't waste time scanning for them.

Don't get me wrong; I like George's site, at times, I really do - it's just that you need to be aware that it's hard to keep up with frequencies and such that change from time to time. Believe me, I know about keeping up with changes

I agree with you Mike. As with any list, it's a starting point and you should always be scanning for additional freqs if you realize you're missing anything that should be associated with the show/event.

I don't want to start a new thread for this little piece of information so I'll stick it here.

The Maryland Air National Guard is identifying their freqs with the Morse identifier...MDANG. I've not seen this reported anywhere else and wonder if some of the other states are doing it too. I'll be listening.

Well, the Naval Academy commencement is the 27th which is where the Blue Angels are performing. I hate to guess but suspect that's the same day they'll perform. One year we went to the Marriott Hotel, bought a drink at the bar and sat out on their back deck right on the water to watch the display.

Don't think I'll be able to make it. After yesterday's show I'm definitely ready for more...lol Thanks for the info.
