All the addresses I googled were in the city limits. The call signs are garbled, but they do start with 7. Sounds like they use the standard state 10 codes, 10-23 for arrival, 10-84 for enroute, etc. The dispatcher's call sign is "control."

Talk Group 30843 has been active (in the clear) off & on since Saturday. It appears to be an animal control unit in the Huntsville area. All the traffic involves animal complaints and googling the addresses they give takes me to Huntsville every time. The talk group is not listed in the database.

Can anyone confirm the agency name?

This is Huntsville Animal Control. Thanks for the Talk Group.

Does anyone know the Talk Group for Alabama A&M University Police in Huntsville?

No one within Madison County (except a trooper) uses the state 10 codes. Thats odd. 770, etc. would be county unit call signs from the old VHF radio numbering scheme. I'd say it was Huntsville Animal Services if the addresses were all in town. They should say 10-97 for on scene, 10-98 for completed. The county animal control is probably on a totally different system like the county commission, TRAM, etc.

Hey guys, I'm in the Tuscaloosa area. I'm going to try to see if I can hear anything up here. I've got to find a computer with a serial port to program my Pro-96. Has anyone had any luck with a usb to serial adapter? It seems as though serial ports are like something out of the stone age now haha.

May 7 Activity - Montgomery Site

A great deal of testing this morning, started @ 9AM. It appears they are testing the systems ability to link various sites.

Talk groups 3802 & 3803.

Call signs: Strike Team Alpha, Strike Team Bravo, Tac ITT, Comm ICC, National Guard Montgomery, Clanton EOC, ICC Mobile, Baldwin Ops, and Robertsdale.

On both talk groups they are testing like this: Strike Team Alpha Mobile calling Clanton EOC radio test. All the aforementioned call signs have been calling each other testing the links.

Also, they have mentioned an exercise (NFI) staging near the Indian casino north of Mobile. Could be testing for the upcoming hurricane season.

Tests continue as I post this.

State EMA Hurricane Exercise 2015 (HURREX)

Just received late info about the Exercise today on Thu., may be over by now, not sure.
They were running on HF Ham frequency below.
You can contact the Ham operators on duty at the State EMA on
7243hz and D-Star Reflector 58B until about 4:30pm CST this afternoon.

Talk Groups 3802 & 3803.
Looks like:
3802 - AL MA TAC1 / AL MA Tactical 1
3803 - AL MA TAC2 / AL MA Tactical 2
Just a guess, not confirmed.
Talk Group 3801 is AL MA CALL / AL MA Calling, It showed up on the Calhoun County system the other day.

TG's from other tower sites on CC Site

Madison and Morgan County Talk Groups showing up on the Calhoun County Simulcast Site.
MCSO TG 30227 showed up today, affiliated only so far.
TG 43783 showed up the other day, unknown who it was.
Odd thing is that is was showing a radio Id from the CC Site.
Looks like some of the other 46B Tower Sites may be using the same radio Id's as the CC Site.

Northport Talk Groups

So. I acquired a brand new BCD536HP and promptly located talk groups 50503 and 50550 in Northport. Both ENCRYPTED :(. From the amount of traffic it looks like 50503 is police and 50550 is fire.

Has anyone else in Tuscaloosa County moved over too this system? Is Northport still on there old frequencies. I find it strange that NorthPort fire would be encrypted seeing all the other fire department on this system are in the clear. Why would Northport be the only agency in Tuscaloosa County to move over when the larger agencies haven't.

As far as I can tell Northport is the only thing around here on the new system. Northport's radio system was old and coverage lacking so an upgrade was due. They are not operating on their old 800 MHz frequencies any more.
