• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I don’t believe it does; here are the mics that work with it.

Well I contacted Motorola to ask if the XE RSM works with the 7550e and they told me no. I bought one a few months later and it worked without a problem. Needless to say I think they don't want the APX speaker mics to be used on anything else than APX but it doesn't mean the speaker mics don't work.

That's not surprising. The XE mic was not intended for the XPR series and it's doubtful that Motorola ever tested it. To avoid any liability issues in the future, Motorola's only answer would be no.

I mean someone at Moto must have tried it lol. I see where you are going with that though. I'm not going to bother asking Moto about it so I figured someone here must have those 2 and could try it out.

You do realize the XE RSM is 50% of the cost of a brand new XPR7550 right? There are many reasons it is not listed as a compatible accessory in any documentation. It is not a certified device. "Your mileage may vary".

Just like if you ask Moto if the HNN9008, MTX9250 battery will work on the XTS2500, the official answer would be “no”. But they work just fine.

I'm not impressed with the KVL4000s. We have four of them. All of them constantly have to be reset, the batteries die in days (even when turned completely off). We're supposed to get 5000s but who knows. Not sure if that's even covered in our SUA. (We will be getting MCC7500Es, micro FF PCs and no more VPMs. Can't wait. I'm running out of real estate for PCs in our Watson furniture).

KVL4000 is long in the teeth already. The Symbol MC55s are NLA and any ones that break are replaced with Zebra equivalents and the PHA will need to be upgraded too. We always remove the battery for storage due top not having a physical power switch. KVL5000 will be shipping early 2019 anyway and it actually turns off! Good luck on the SUA.

Yes, all the Z440 PCs will be HP Z2 Minis and the VPM is being replaced with an AIM. Much less real estate.

What do you mean by its not a certified device?

And if it works with the radio then technically it is a compatible accessory. Motorola just chooses not to tell you that.
