Olympic Place is off of Olympic Dr, just behind Athens Tech. Looks like it's just south of the water tower, on the other side of the campus and Old Hull Rd.
, but everything else is allegedly going to be ADP.
As for the tower site, they're replacing the Athens Tech site (which is on top of a decommissioned water tower) with an installation on a commercial tower in the same area (the American site).
I guess they don't care that isn't permitted according to part 90. I guess the laws pertain to everyone but themselves.
Did they ever bulldoze the cemetery to build the tower? The one next to the stadium?

Are you referring to the UGA mausoleum inside the stadium? I'm not sure if that were ever outside the stadium, or if there were another one somewhere near that part of campus. The only one I know remotely near the is Green Hill cemetery, which is far too much a landmark to bulldoze.
According to CFR 47 part 90.553, only AES and DES is authorized:

(a) Encryption is permitted on all but the two nationwide Interoperability calling channels. Radios employing encryption must have a readily accessible switch or other readily accessible control that permits the radio user to disable encryption.
(b) If encryption is employed, then transmitters manufactured after August 11, 2014 must use the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) specified in ANSI/TIA-102.AAAD-A: Project 25 Digital Land Mobile Radio-Block Encryption Protocol, approved August 20, 2009 Until 2030, manufacturers may also include the Digital Encryption Standard (DES) or Triple Data Encryption Algorithm (TDEA), in addition to but not in place of AES, for compatibility with legacy radios that lack AES capability. What makes you say that?90.553 only applies to the 763-775/793-805 mhz band. Is this Athens-Clarke County system going to be in that band?

What makes you say that?

ADP encyption
No there was an article someone posted here a while back that they have to exhume the bodies in the cemetery next to the UGA stadium to build a radio tower or something.
My information is that the existing tower at the UGA conference center will also be a site to supplement in-town coverage, in addition to the county's 3 sites.
The System is expected to be operational and accepted from Motorola by September 30, 2015.
ACC moved over today. Lots of channels encrypted. No fun.
UGA has already moved over - a week or two back.
Thanks for the update. You say "lots of channels are encrypted" -- Do you know which channels are still available?
I've heard Leaf and Limb, Streets, and The Lift (bus). I have heard no open public safety channels. As of yesterday afternoon they had not moved Fire over, but now I'm hearing nothing from the FD, so I don't know if they are not busy or they moved them over and encrypted them, but I have not been listening that much today, and was not listening during the normal radio check (8 AM).
I have not even heard the Clarke County jail, so they must have that encrypted too. You wouldn't want to have citizens hear them calling for a gate to be opened or a prisoner to be moved from one location in the jail to another.
I have heard Parking Services on the UGA side, but UGAPD is encrypted.
It is a shame because the reception of the new system is perfectly clear and much stronger than the old system. We'll see if the special event channels are in the clear (as someone posted earlier in the thread) this weekend since we have a home UGA football game.
By the way, they are using a combination of the frequencies from the 'old' UGA and ACC 800MHz systems (Phase 2 TDMA). 40+ years of listening to public safety gone in an instant...
