Packs of boys (and young adults) rampaging on city streets riding dirt bikes is a pretty common occurrence in Mob Town. Was there some sort of use-of-force incident that precipitated the call-out?

It seems like there was some kind of fight that broke out and police responded. Due to some circumstances at the scene, they requested additional officers and riot gear. Didn't hear it as it started but this is what I have gathered through radio traffic and Twitter.

WJZ Report says you're probably right on the money about the stolen issue.

Funny though, WJZ seems to love the shots of young teenagers sitting still or hanging out on regular bicycles, never mind the dirtbikes going nuts all over :(

The Baltimore Police Department has canceled leave for officers on Wednesday and on Sept. 10, when hearings are scheduled in the case against six officers charged in the arrest and death of Freddie Gray, police said.

Canceling leave ensures the department has a maximum number of officers working or on call "in case there are any issues we need to respond to," said T.J. Smith, the department's chief spokesman.

Police do not release details about the staging or deployment of officers, but an increased law enforcement presence is expected during the hearings near and at the Circuit Court buildings downtown.

City police commanders have also met with their counterparts from law enforcement agencies in surrounding jurisdictions about preparedness during the hearings.

They do this in Philadelphia too, thanks to rapper Meek Mill, Bike life is what they call it.

Various Baltimore City Tac Channels are active for the Protests. There was a patch earlier on 8Tac93 from the BC system.

Some activity on FiRST (MDTAP Port of Balt/Key Bridge) talking about road closures near the WTC.

There was a protest in the City Hall Chambers on the appointment of Chief Davis. Protesters were ordered out of City Hall. Now they are marching in the streets.

60 or so are blocking the streets. Command is requested to "Videotape" the warnings to move out of the streets.

The head of the Baltimore Police Department is a "Commissioner." They also have no Captains, but have Lieutenants and Majors. Not sure why the department is structured this way. Must be some reason for it historically.

Not sure why the protesters are hating on Davis....

Downtown now

So far riot prep ops have included these two:

BFD 11 BFD BPD (MSP / Others?)
BPD Training Academy

It looks like out of towners are being stashed on odd channels.

Out of town police staging appears to be the zoo in Druid Hill park.

Courthouse and downtown area fairly secure. Wouldn't say the same for NW Baltimore.

More as I hear it.
