That’s just it see. The battery I have is original . Doesn’t last as long as others with a full charge . If wanting a better battery is complaining? Then I’m guilty . More importantly I could care less if anyone sees it as complaining. From day one I have a battery that doesn’t deliver as it should . 3 hrs max for a handheld? No kidding . Yet here I am explaining my situation about a battery that would help my situation “nah no frustration here” .

You knew from the beginning that the battery was not going to deliver as it should. Bottom line is we will get when it becomes available. People getting frustrated or mad about it are not going to get it shipped to us any quicker.

Lol the frustration is over the battery I have now not the unknown performance of the new battery that should last longer than the crap one I have now . None of you see that frustration? I understand it will get here when it gets here . But how bad does it look that if you order a new sds100 today your getting the new battery with it but yet those that bought the first round NO NEW battery yet? Again no one see this as frustration? Cmon let’s let it rest then .....

I knew from the beginning that the proprietary battery was trouble, just like Uniden's previous failed attempts of using a proprietary battery pack. A year from now my radio will no longer be a portable .

Like many of you I have been waiting for my new larger SDS100 battery and cover to arrive as I received my SDS100 in the very first week of June when they first started to be delivered. I'm not making any excuses at all for Uniden but I have some thoughts to share as to what is probably going on here.

First off I'm sure that the SDS100 battery manufacturer/supplier has a limited capability as to how many batteries can be supplied to Uniden in any given month. With that limited supply I believe the priority for Uniden is to supply batteries FIRST to the new SDS100 radios being produced and to the new EBC100 chargers being produced (seeing that the EBC100 includes the new larger battery).

Without those batteries Uniden would not be able to package up any new radios or chargers for sale. With the holiday shopping season coming up shortly I'm sure Uniden wants to make sure that their dealers/sellers have as much inventory of the SDS100 radios and EBC100 chargers as possible to maximize the monetary profits for everyone involved. From a "business" or "maximum profit" perspective I guess that makes the most sense for Uniden but it does so at the expense of providing the promised larger batteries to the early adopters in a more timely fashion.

My personal thoughts, FWIW, is that Uniden should not be including the new larger battery with the EBC100 charger and instead should be using that additional battery inventory to send to those of us waiting for our batteries. I think it also makes more sense to sell the charger without the battery to avoid forcing customers to have to buy an extra battery when all they may want is the charger. Admittedly I'm not in product marketing so maybe I am missing something here.

I believe the "final straw" in early adopters' frustration will come if Uniden dealers start selling the new larger batteries separately while we are still waiting for our FREE larger batteries and covers. Time will tell if that scenario develops.

Just my objective observations and 2 cents on the situation from where I see it. As they said in the Watergate scandal back in the 1970s, "Follow the money."

I have to jump in & agree with those who are upset, including myself, that we purchased a product that we paid full price, was promised by the manufacturer to fix a problem w/ a component (battery), and still 4 months later, no fix has been sent, while new purchasers get the larger (correct) battery. I feel cheated, as I'm sure others that are still waiting, with just a so far empty promise, to correct a short coming with this product. Uniden should have offered for those who received the original smaller battery, to return the unit for a full refund, rather than just a small note inserted with the scanner, indicating they will, at some future point in time, take care of this short coming with their product. It's just a matter of good business, you take care of your customers that you made a promise to FIRST, rather than just put us on a back burner, while you continue to sell the product to others with the corrected component. If you (Uniden) cannot offer the fix now, then offer to buy back the product at full refund to those that wish to return it.

UpMan explained about the battery life before any units shipped so it was known what was going on before that litter piece of paper. It was you're choice to take a chance and buy early. I made my choice based on the information given. If you feel cheated the only person to blame is yourself. People getting bent out of shape waiting for something that is free boggles my mind. Delays happen all the time.

Mine too. If some folks are getting this worked up over something as insignificant as a battery, I wonder what happens when a real crisis comes upon them?

I too am an early adopter of the SDS100, having had mine since mid-June. I didn't buy it because I would be getting a bigger battery sometime down the road, but bought it for what it was advertised for; (much) improved simulcast system reception, and in that regard, I have not been disappointed. It performs like a champ!! Now, would I like to have the promised bigger battery? Sure I would. Am I going to lose my $h!t because it hasn't shown up in my mailbox yet? Of course not, that would just be plain ol silly. There are much more important things in my life to worry about. :D

The battery life was posted in the 1st post in NIP IT IN THE BUD. So no one can not say they did not know. As posted above what would you do in a life or death circumstance I may not even use my big battery as I like the size of mine now but if I need more time I have it. I also have a 30,000 mile usb battery that will allow me to run my scanner starting with a full charge 48 hours then I have 2 6,000 and 1 10,000 back up battery for reserve so I can stretch it to almost 4 days with no power.

Maybe you forgot that some of us that are getting bent out of shape have been burned by Uniden several times. The 436HP battery backup, 436HP LED's, 536HP LED's , 536HP dongle , and the 536HP Siren App. You would think after all this Uniden would have figured out how to design a scanner that didn't require another major hardware fix.

I could understand if Whistler was in this predicament being in the scanner business for only a few years, but Uniden has been making scanners for decades.

"You made your choice on the information given." Not everyone who bought the SDS100 was informed of the battery issue until they open the box and read the included addendum released in JUNE.

mule1075, people spent good money on a product that doesn't perform to the standards. Uniden knew this prior to releasing the SDS100. We all were under the assumption that the battery would be offered to the early adopters first, and as we all know this is not the case even though the battery and door is being sold with new stock. This is what boggles the mind.

I am getting 4 hours depending on what I am monitoring. But this is from the 1st post in the nip it in the bud thread.

Ok, one disappointment on the final units with final battery. I really don't like battery life (max 320 minutes).

Had the 436hp 536hp so really did not forget. Fixes were made for free with the exception of shipping. Again getting bent out of shape waiting to get something for free is borderline ridiculous.

My first comment in the thread was to vent frustration about the waiting for a battery that would replace the battery shipped with the sds100 in June . It doesn’t last 4-5 hrs with no traffic . 2.5 at best here . So yeah I’m tired of waiting . Now we got cooments like crisis and no patience . Reply with all the DIggs you want . That’s cool . Doesn’t change the fact that it’s been long enough for those waiting while those watch people buying the sds100 with NEW battery . Uniden should have taken care of it’s first round of the sds100 . That is where mostly all my frustration is . Doesn’t take too high of an IQ in understanding that or does it ? If you gunna dig DIG deep

My 536 ended my early adopter tendencies with Uniden, and I'm actually quite happy about that reading this thread. Yes, it was their choice to take the chance, and with the announced, anticipated shipping date of August, most people were happy to live with that. We are two months beyond August now and people don't have the new batteries. If someone had been told that it would be a November or later ship date and that new radios would ship with the larger battery sooner, it may have affected their decision and they would have cancelled their order or returned their radio within the return period without a financial loss. Instead, people are buying the radio now and receiving the larger battery for the exact same amount, while the early adopters, many of whom are Uniden's most loyal customers, are stuck with an under-performing battery.

People aren't feeling cheated because they don't have their free battery, people are feeling lied to because they were, and that shouldn't boggle anyone's mind. I understand that a company has to make sales to stay in business, but proper business would have been to press the "STOP" button on the production line or in the shipping warehouse until the batteries had been sent to the early adopters, not to just blow off the people who bought on day 1 (probably the largest sales date for the radio) and keep selling like nothing happened.

I still don't have a Siren App that works the way it was claimed for my 536, that leads me to believe that at some point Uniden expects people to just forget about things they promise. I hope the same isn't true for the battery.

The only thing that is truly bent out of shape is the the design of the new battery. Now that's what I call borderline ridiculous.

Why of course, why wouldn't I ?
So you bought new and are not a early adopter? If that is the case you have no dog in this fight. The bottom line is still the same. Things happen delays happen. If you look at it the other way if they shipped the new battery and door to the early adopters first uniden would not have any sds100's new to sell. No matter I will get mine when they send it to me. Not going to any sleep over it.
