WOW! I just have to post a comment about Uniden's Repair Campaign for the BCD536HP. I purchased a vintage 536 model as a good deal from an eBay seller. Of course, when I got it, you could barely read the display on the highest setting and it needed the clock repair, but other than that it was in GREAT shape! I contacted Uniden for repairs and received the shipping label in about 2 days. On August 21, I dropped it off at UPS. Today, August 29, it was back via FedEX and has a bright display and remembers the date/time! It's like a brand new scanner and the repairs/shipping didn't cost me a dime! I find that as amazing customer service for a 6 year old scanner!

Kudos to Uniden's Customer Service and their technicians in Roanoke, TX!

Did you go through the repair campaign? or did you just email them for supoprt? I have a 436HP and saiting for a few months for them to send me the shipping label to fix the RTC and screen.

Go back & submit your request again via the webpage. If you did that "several months ago", and still never received the return label, either your request did not submit correctly, or, if return labels were sent, the email may have landed in your spam folder.

If you still don't get a label, after verifying that it did not get treated as spam, then contact the Uniden Support member on the forums.

I went to this website/link and submitted a repair request. Once submitted, it took 2-3 days for a reply via email, but after that it was smooth sailing!

OH... one more thing, be sure to use the EXTERNAL serial number on your scanner. DO NOT use the internal serial number via the menu function, otherwise, they will reject your request as not having a valid serial number.

I just sent the request through the uniden support and hopefully I will hear back soon.
Thanks for everyone's help!

What S/N's and below require the recall? Bob.
I have not seen a specific serial # range specified, but the scanners with the display & RTC issues were those produced before, approximately, mid-year 2015.

Anyone returning a BCD536HP for the repair campaign, check the audio from the headphone jack. The early production units had noisy and distorted audio.
The headphone issue applied to the early production units, with a serial number ending in 2600 and below. I sent my 536 in for that and it was exchanged for a new unit, and also tagged that it now had a three year warranty after it was received.

It's certainly worth asking.
So, after some back and forth with Uniden Support regarding my 536 RTC issue, I figured out why I kept getting the "not eligible for the repair campaign" notice when submitting my request. I found that when I substituted the number 2 (taken from the menu-generated SN), for the letter Z in the serial number on the back, my request was accepted without a hitch. Uniden emailed me the shipping label, I shipped the unit last Monday, and got it back today, repaired at no cost. However, why I had to hack the process is beyond me, and Uniden had no answer.

My neighbor got hung up on that also... the repair form does specify that it needs the serial number (SN) from the back of the scanner, but he got the same reply you did.

The number in the scanner that is retrieved through the menu system is the electronic serial number (ESN).

For those having had the Real-Time Clock repair done, did you find that you had to recharge your clock battery by keeping the unit powered up after it was returned from Uniden?

The real time clock battery charges only when the scanner is on. It takes about 50 hours to charge the battery and a fully charged battery will last for about a week.

So, I kept the scanner on for approximately 4 days to recharge the battery before powering down for around 18 hours. Upon turning it on this evening, it's again prompting me to set the clock. The Uniden service ticket shows no parts were used, nor does it actually describe what the service department may have done beyond telling me the unit was repaired and thoroughly checked. Has anyone had any similar experience with the Real Time Clock fix?

I recently had the RTC fix performed on mine. The 536 remained off over last weekend (but not unplugged from the wall outlet) for probably 72+ hours. Turned it on tonight and the time display is perfect. So, mine is not showing the same behavior as your unit.

I had the fix done quite some time back, both on my 536HP, and my oldest 436HP. No problems along that line with either of them the past several years. At this late date, I don't recall what parts, if any, were referenced for the 536. The 436HP got a replacement circuit board, which corrected bit the RTC as well as dim display issues.

In your case, it sounds, unfortunately, that either the "fix" was not done correctly, or you had the bad luck that the replacement part(s) installed are defective. If you continue to have the 'time reset' issues, I'd suggest contacting Uniden to correct whatever went wrong on your unit.

After waiting another week I finally got my email late friday with instructions to print out my prepaid UPS shipping label, woot woot! Being I got it so late friday my 436HP was sent out this morning for the RTC repair. I have my fingers crosses that it won't be that long for it to get sent back, especially with all the protests and carp going on around the country.
More details as they come...
