Exploring the event viewer the only thing that I found amiss at about the same time the scanner popped into mass storage mode is:

"The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device WpdBusEnumRoot\UMB\2&37c186b&0&STORAGE#VOLUME#_??_USBSTOR#DISK&VEN_UNIDEN&PROD_BCD536HP&REV_1.00#0000000000001&0#."

I'm not sure if this caused the scanner going into mass storage mode or, a product of the scanner going into that mode.

Did you completely uninstall the old 536 driver, including using some thing like CCleaner or Glary Utilities to clean out the Registry of 536 specific entries before loading the new 536 driver?

You might have parts of the old 536 driver conflicting with the new 536 drivers. This can happen even if Device Manager shows no problems with the new 536 driver. I think you will need the 536 USB cable plugged into your PC USB port and turned on to see this in the Device Manager, at least I have to with my 436.

You are making progress in solving problems if only new ones will stop popping up.

I wonder if the listeners of your broadcast know how hard you are having to work to give them a good audio stream?

Have you thought about trying a different memory card?

Nice! I haven't checked that. I'll clean it up and reinstall tomorrow. Thank-you.

Yeah... This definitely feels 1 step forward, 2 steps back-ish.

For real.. I have 11k followers on Twitter and Facebook.. Never hear a word from anyone when everything is running good. But the instant something goes south... I hear an earful. ;-)

I saw someone had this problem in another thread here. He solved it by increasing the Uniden serial port speed. I had the same problem and increasing the the Uniden serial port default speed from 9600 to 115,200 solve the problem for me.

I've had this same problem. I increased it to 115,200 but it still went into mass storage mode. After one of the upgrades to the software it has stopped. I ran a couple of hours the other night with no stoppage.

Is this strictly happening with RadioFeed?

I've left my 436 connected to my (Win7 Ultimate x64) computer 2 nights in a row in serial mode, without software "listening" on the computer end, and when I come back to it in the morning it's still in serial mode.

Out of curiosity, what software was upgraded? Thanks.

The only program I am aware of that has been updated is Sentinel to 1.02.01.

The one that we were to use in UPMan's "Do This First" was 1.01.07 which was newer than the one that came with the scanner.

However, I do not see how this could cause your problem.

This was a no-go for me. Still jumped into storage mode. :-/

Thanks though.

Since my 536 is one of the recalled units, I think at this point I'll send it in and swap for a fixed unit. Once I have the working (noise-free) headphone jack, I'll use that for my radio feed instead of the speaker out. By removing the speaker ground issue from the equation, maybe that will keep the unit from randomly jumping into mass storage mode. Just a stab in the dark...
