I also see North Simulcast to have added two of the other four licensed frequencies for WQSY971 to be on the air.

Those two lists I posted yesterday, I could absolutely swear that they were in fact identical when I posted them. But they're not, as I see them now. Unfortunately I can't edit them.

Maybe my cut and paste went bad. No idea. The info on that post should be considered to be questionable as even I don't know why it doesn't match what I was seeing on the FCC's data for that callsign.

I've updated my files with the new information just provided.

I compared two radios, one without the updated channel additions and one with. The difference is quite obvious. The new data appears to be correct.

The last two assigned frequencies for that site should probably be inserted into the LCN list now, because I predict those channels will be activated in a matter of days. Which one first? I'm going to go in order of ascending frequency. I've got a 50/50 chance of being right.

I thought about it, but I decided to wait... makes it easier than to have to change all my radios :-D

I didn't do anything. I've asked questions and reposted what others have figured out, but I did NOT determine which new frequencies were in use or the LCN order then needed to be in.

Don't give me credit for things I didn't accomplish.

Your so modest. You have made great contributions to this feed, and others as well. Don't be afraid to pat yourself on the back sir.

As just a guy hiding here in the background I would like to thank each and everyone in keeping guys like me up to date on changes. I have not had my scanner on in a few days and I knew from what I have learned here on this site that something had changed in the control listing. Sure enough log on here and first thing I see is Brevard topic. Do some reading and rereading to understand what I am reading and you guys are great. It was like reading a detective story book. This book ended up with a great ending in my scanner is working great here in Mims ( 3 miles north of 46) THANK YOU....

First off, I want to thank everyone for working so hard on getting the info situated on this new upgrade, particularly appreciated the expertise of Elroy and Sherwood.

Second, I just recently moved back up to Brevard since I'm studying for my undergrad at FIT in Software Engineering. I live in the Eau Gallie area, just north of the 518 causeway and use the Eau Gallie Site to listen to this TRS. I would love to offer up my services on getting any additional info needed for our system here. I think I've got some interesting findings, especially after recording some transmissions from last night and this afternoon between classes.

Below I'll post several replies with affiliated links to video recordings(Once YouTube decides to finish uploading them) and audio recordings of both previously unrecorded or mysterious control channels that I believe may be repurposed for the South Simulcast site, along with an interesting back-and-forth two of the radio technicians were having regarding getting the Microwave simulcast system up and running at the Scottsmoor site. I've been holding on the CII department with my 436HP recording on their struggles since around 1100 today 9/1.

I must note also, that last week, the School security talkgroup was alive with traffic and I overheard something interesting that I can't confirm my replay buffer caught once I smashed the record feature on my 436. Long story short, I believe the school security(either BCSO SRO'S or some sort of security force at all the county schools) hit their emergency button on their portable radio. The BCSO dispatcher and school security supervisor were going school by school asking them to keyup to determine which radio ID had signaled an emergency. I'll have to review the recordings after class however one of the portable units was having trouble getting out clearly. The school security supervisor stated, "If you are on the Rockledge tower, switch to South then switch to the Melbourne tower...The one that shows MELB on the screen."

I gleaned two major things from that transmission. Elroy or Sherwood could probably provide more info on this, but a) by South, I'm inferring he's talking about the supposed South Simulcast that we've been waiting to go live. Also b) is there a tower that we don't know about? Or maybe we have a tower incorrectly named? I swept the frequencies and found a broadcasting control channel with lots of activity fluctuations in the cadence of the transmission(That I'll reply with later) that was listed as a normal trunked frequency in one of the sites we have now that is not marked as control.

NOTE: As I am finishing typing this up, one of the techs just finished up at Scottsmoor rebooting the system and resetting the NetTime clock and Microwave system. He said he was headed to Titusville next... Interesting

First thing, don't post any recordings made of anything you hear on the system. I think there may be legal issues associated with recording and redistribution of traffic on a public safety system that you don't want to be involved with.

Second, if they don't KNOW which radio ID transmitted the emergency alarm and where that radio is located, or where it is supposed to be located, then that is a serious breach of Brevard's radio protocols BUT it is also quite understandable if it happened with a school. I'm quite experienced with how the schools handle their radios and if I were to describe their handling of radios as "incompetent and slipshod at best" then I'd be quite charitable in my praise.

I've seen schools do things as outright stupid as leave an LPE, turned on and in the charger, for so long that the battery swelled up so far that it had to be pried out of the charger and the resulting radio frame corrosion was so bad that CI condemned the radio as unrepairable. The charger was also toast. I ended up with one of those radios after it sold at auction It's usable but there is frame corrosion on it that would make it unreliable for critical applications.

If you can make an attempt to verify any site frequencies that are near you and not on any lists, please make a note of what frequencies they are.

The south simulcast system is at least several months away from going "live".

When the dispatcher was trying to determine what site the emergency radio was on, be assured, the south site referenced is the same old Palm Bay site that's been active since 1989.

There is absolutely zero regular traffic on what will be the south simulcast system. Techs are doing some early work on it but nobody other than the techs will be present on it. The south simulcast system
does not exist yet. Only a relatively small amount of preliminary work has been done toward that goal to date.

ElroyJetson is right. Be careful distributing audio from a public safety radio system. Thank you for the compliment srich10. ElroyJetson is very knowledgeable with the current system and with radio networks in general. There are several others on this feed who have interest in this system who have also contributed to the cause. I will give everybody a heads up when the South simulcast system goes "live" or shortly prior to it going live. I too have been doing some control channel monitoring and it seems there are more than a handful that are not "out of county" in my listening area, which is strange to me. I suppose that may be cause for another thread to be created.

I appreciate both of the responses guys. I view our public systems, here in Brevard and my home county of St Lucie where we provide online feeds, as being tax-payer funded that are open to the public, as long as they're in the clear. I guess I view it in a similar fashion to able to use the audio since it's open but oh well, it's not a big deal. Nothing's been posted publicly but I do greatly appreciate you guys making sure I don't get into any sort of legal situation.

Back to the earlier post, I was sweeping through the 800's last night and stumbled upon a couple of frequencies used as control channels. I did quick ULS searches on all the ones I found that were NOT associated with the State Of Florida(SLERS). I'll list them below:

852.2875--> Affiliated with active licenses in Pinellas, Miam-Dade and Sarasota counties with radio service type 'YE'. That frequency is #2 in the listing for the Eau Gallie site but is not marked as a CC

853.7875--> Affiliated with active licenses in St. Lucie and Sarasota counties as well as the city of Ft. Lauderdale. I am certain the CC is not St. Lucie since the CC sounds like EDACS instead of the Motorola CC that I am used to hearing in St. Lucie County.

856.6625--> This one is affiliated with SLERS since there are multiple licenses all for use with 'Official Law Enforcement Communications' with the State of Florida. Interesting tidbit though, it is not being implemented in any of the frequencies listed on the SLERS RR site posting. This most likely is only because of an addition being needed to the SLERS page and not this particular TRS. I only included this one because it was in the range we are looking at and was EDACS based.

ANY licensed frequency that is part of a trunked system may be used as a control channel. There is no legal restriction against this, and actually it makes very good sense to rotate control channels as it evens out the transmitter hours per repeater in the long run, contributing to longer transmitter life than a transmitter that is always running at full output.

I don't recall if Brevard's sites routinely rotate control channels, but they really SHOULD be using that feature to reduce system maintenance requirements in the long term.

If I had a place in the north and south parts of the county to work from, I'd tote out one of my Rohde & Schwarz spectrum analyzers and attempt to capture frequency information on any new sites that are popping up. I can't do it from my vehicle because the analyzer does NOT work off DC power.

I think this thread is starting to get a little too technically specific about the Brevard County System. I think it would be best to stick with 'general' system frequency info and definitely not give out play-by- plays of radio traffic being heard on any of the tallkgroups, especially any Law enforcement traffic, which is a fantastically bad idea.

They are already aware that the system has not been as 'secure' as it should be. The issue of scanners and live feed apps monitoring Brevard county radio traffic are also mentioned in radio training documents.

I am adjusting accordingly. I have already spoken with individuals regarding this and, of course, will not be giving play-by-plays of what is going on through public forums.

Wise. In fact, I am fairly sure that there are laws governing the dissemination of law enforcement radio traffic to third parties. Correction: I'm absolutely sure of it.

I would actually like the live internet feeds to stop, with the providers choosing to voluntarily shut down their feeds for the simple and logical reason that if this gets out of hand, system managers may decide
to throw the big red E switch and shut down all our listening.

My listening is admittedly mostly recreational. There are times when I hear traffic that is positively scary, and at other times, it's comical. Usually it's not at all exciting, which is how you really want it to be.

But I do use it when driving, to avoid traffic accident locations and trouble spots in general. If I hear of a fire or shooting incident at a specific location, I direct myself AWAY from it. I am not at all one of those IDIOTS who uses their scanner to go find something entertaining to watch. They give us all a bad name.

Ultimately, in the event of a really serious event where police and EMS are overwhelmed and could use actual help from the public, there are scenarios where I would volunteer to assist in any constructive manner that I'm able to manage. But I'm not about to do something dumb like roll up to the police line near an active shooter situation and ask, "Hey, you guys need a sniper to help take that jerk out?"

No. Whatever you do, please don't be THAT guy.

I know this list is incomplete: (From the Brevard entry in the RR database)

409 03-031 A BCFR Tac 21 BCFR Tac 21 - District 20 Fire-Tac
410 03-032 A BCFR Tac 41 BCFR Tac 41 - District 40 Fire-Tac
411 03-033 A BCFR Tac 61 BCFR Tac 61 - District 60 Fire-Tac
414 03-036 A BCFR Tac 81 BCFR Tac 81 - District 80 Fire-Tac
417 03-041 A BCFR Tac 41 BCFR Tac 41 Fire-Tac
418 03-042 A BCFR Tac 42 BCFR Tac 42 Fire-Tac
419 03-043 A BCFR Tac 43 BCFR Tac 43 Fire-Tac
425 03-051 A BCFR Tac 51 BCFR Tac 51 Fire-Tac
426 03-052 A BCFR Tac 52 BCFR Tac 52 Fire-Tac
427 03-053 A BCFR Tac 53 BCFR Tac 53 Fire-Tac

There is unquestionably a Tac 71 and it was assigned to Melbourne FD tonight for an incident
involving an incoming airliner with a flap problem. It landed safely.

I heard the call to send the responding units to Tac 71 but I have no data on it.

If any of you can add Tac 71 data to this or add ANY updates, it'd be appreciated.

Tac 71 is a Melbourne Fire channel and is listed under Melbourne Fire in the database. It is decimal 1066 which they also call it North Fireground. 1067 is Tac 72 which is also called South Fireground.

Ah, got it. I've had ALL fire/rescue talkgroups lumped together under BCFR in my radios for...well, forever. Because when I listen to police departments, I don't usually want to hear fire/rescue traffic as well. Average fire/rescue calls are usually pretty boring to listen to so they're not in most of my scan lists.
