Yes, since this is a question and answer thread and your previous post wasn't a question or an answer.

It was too a question... You obviously didn't read it did you????

I see now how this site is going to be run.. I will delete my account and feeds tonight i guess.

QUESTION... (so you won't delete it)

After October 15th i will no longer be able to import to Butel or Proscan unless i purchase a premium subscription to RR??

I provide all the data for my area, i am sitting on two counties worth of ARMER info right now that i am busy verifying the talkgroup data for. I am paying for electricity to provide my feeds, three counties in MN and three counties in SD.

And now i will have to pay to use the info from RR? <---- Question

Broadcastify will not provide me any valuable service so i don't see how you consider that a good tradeoff for feed providers? <---- Question

As a feed provider, you've been getting a $2.50/month value.

A Premium Subscription to Broadcastify will be $6.95/month. That will get you, among other things, access to the live audio archives.

As a feed provider, you will get a complimentary subscription to Broadcastify, a $6.95/month value.

Part of the "premium" features is "no advertisements" Where are these ads going to be? Just banner ads on the website or are there now going to be commercials during our broadcasts?

Thanks,
Chad

Actually, you will get unlimited listening time even without the premium subscription, you'll just have to restart the player every 2 hours or so to continue listening if you're not a premium subscriber (see the first post in this thread where this question was originally answered, 4th question).

I just looked at the screenshot of the new website that was linked in the email sent to feed providers. This means in a way Broadcastify is CHARGING for access to the streams.

We will not be charging for the streams, everyone will be able to listen to them whether or not they're a premium subscriber (see the first post in this thread where this question was originally answered, see the answer to the 4th question).

For those that missed this in the initial post, let me reiterate the following:

I would ask everyone to let myself and the broadcast administration team answer the questions. Additionally, please keep all posts in this thread related to a question and answer discussion only. We are going to stay away from debating policy and procedure for now.

Please adhere to the above. Thanks.

Web service access to the RR Database is, I believe, included with the purchase of the Uniden Home Patrol 1 scanner. Sentinel should still be able to download from the RR Database.

Purchasing a Home Patrol gives you access to Uniden's massaged version of the RR database only. It does not give you access to the RR database.

Feed Providers access

I saw a blip that Premium Subscribers and Feed Providers accounts only will be migrated to the new service.

Will we "Feed Providers" Receive a direct email with new login information or is it similar to the current RR access? If different will white papers be provided for the configuration of new options?

Willing to BETA any technical documentation for you if you need it.

With the launch of any new service, there will be bugs to work out. Do you anticipate any delays getting new feeds approved around the week of 10/15/12 when the new site goes live?

Will similar rules apply where a feed will only be deleted if it is offline for 2 weeks continuously?

I ask because I plan to setup a computer in a remote location on 10/19. While I will have remote access to the machine, I was hoping to get the feed online while there so I can work any bugs out. Perhaps I'll send in the feed request the week before I travel and then it should "migrate" on 10/15 and be ready for me to bring online 10/19.

Thank you,
Rob

We don't anticipate any.

Yes, and, feeds are deleted automatically deleted after they've been offline for 3 weeks (not 2 weeks).

That's what I would recommend just in case there is an issue.

Thanks for the quick reply. I do have another unrelated question:

I assume feed providers will no longer be able to post classified ads unless a premium membership is purchased?

Thanks again,
Rob

I want to know the answer to this as well.... Other than importing data from the database directly to my software the classifieds is the only other premium use item that i have used on RR. I am assuming, as Rob is, that we lose that also! Might as well delete the classifieds then, won't be many people able to access it anyway.

I forgot that it takes premium membership to access the classifieds, thanks for bringing this up Rob!

Will the embedded player that I have on my website continue to work or will it stop?

Thank you

Hope this wasnt already answered...........
Questions about RR site. now that we will no longer receive a free premium subscription to RR, are the fees for that site staying the same? Are the benefits for premium RR changing? I had to start a new account to find the premium benefits page. Quoting

Access to the RadioReference.com Web Service
Advanced searching and reporting capabilities
Access to all live audio broadcast archives
My RadioReference custom watch lists
PDF and CSV downloads of communications data
Access to post advertisements in the RadioReference Classifieds

Not sure what some of this stuff was.

That is correct.

When the transition occurs we will give you, as a feed provider, a complimentary free 90 day premium subscription on RadioReference. After that you will need to purchase a premium subscription on RR to have access to post to the classifieds and do direct downloads from the database.

RR Annual Fee?

I guess I haven't seen this asked yet, but admittedly I've skimmed a lot of the posts...

Will there be an annual fee option for an RR subscription or is it just going to be monthly?

Personally, I despise monthly fees. I track enough monthly costs as it is. I'd rather pay out one bill and forget about it for a year.
