Just to clarify, the RR database of frequencies and talkgroups will still be free, but to use scanner programming software to import them directly from RR into the software will require a premium subscription. To lookup and manually enter them into your scanner (either directly or via software) will still be free. Is this correct?

Correct...Correct...Correct :)

Can someone elaborate on the new "notable incidents section for storage of interesting audio archives" feature?

Yes, we will have a separate section on the site where we carve out interesting recordings that the Broadcastify.com community would find interesting. Major incidents, etc. We'll obviously be very discrete in what we make available. A LOT of agencies use archive recordings from our feeds for training purposes.

Additionally, those "notable incidents" audio archives will be freely available to anyone and not require a premium subscription to listen to.

Thanks for the additional info. Who will have a hand in deciding what audio to save in this section? The feed provider... Admins... democratic vote..?

The Broadcastify leadership team will decide what is appropriate to keep in the "notable incidents section" of the archives.

Thanks,

Any chance that Broadcastify will force feed providers to at least fill out basic info regarding freq's, TGs, etc. Really can be a pain sometimes identifying things when they don't even list anything...

I know for sure I don't approve feeds without this info for multiple reasons. One, being the reason you stated but i also use it as an additional "screening" method. We have some people agree to the TOS when they submit the application but yet when i go back for additional info, low and behold, their is channels clearly against our TOS. Any application I get does, and will not, get approved without this info, now, or when it becomes Broadcastify. The problem comes when they have been approved and they go back and edit/delete the info.

Maybe change the field from "additional info" to "frequency list" or something like that? I don't even care if it isn't exact frequencies (although that's not hard to do) if the description matches up exactly with what each channel does.

Will BCFY allow "special event feeds"., in other words, if there is a special event going on (i.e. state fair, large rally, etc.), will it/you guys allow a "temporary feed" for the duration of a long term special event.

While, yes, equipment, time and money (we generally pay for outgoing traffic in Australia) go into providing feeds, the real cost is borne by RR. I'd just like to say I appreciate the work and the significant amount of money that goes into RR and into the new Broadcast service.

Scanner Radio Mobile Software

Please forgive me if I missed it above, but my question is this: Will Scanner Radiio / Scaner Radio Pro on mobile devices and smart phones continue to receive audio feeds after the move to Broadcastify, or will a new or updated version of the software be required?

Thank you!

Yes, all of the mobile apps that contain RadioReference.com's feeds will continue to work just as they do today, the developers of their mobile apps shouldn't need to update their apps for you to be able to continue listening to the feeds.

Yes we will, just as we do now. Our policies are pretty much the same as they are now.

You will likley get all snippy etc.. but I shall ask anyways. Will the rules change in regards to what you call TAC channels. ie. this past weekend we had a small plane crash in the area, The feed went from 60 users to over 300 users and then the police moved all the comm traffic to a TAC channel and that pretty much ended what people could hear. It wasn't because of anything more then to get all that comm traffic off the main channel that all the units not involved in the search for the plane were using.

TAC channels around here get used for anything that is major just to get the traffic off the main channel but the current ban on TAC channels because of the lack of understand about how some PD's use them makes it really had to stream those big events.
