My Raspberry Pi 4 misses an ton of traffic running SDR Trunk using my Air Spy R2, so much so I switched it back to a Windows machine. I wonder if this new version will be better. Let's hope.

Thanks! i tried "checking for updates" from appliance shell version 1.12 and it says no updates available. is it quite involved to make the jump to this new version? The Pi is running Buster as the OS right now, seems like this needs to be updated first? Once on Bookworm will the appliance shell see this new update?

also, since you asked for feedback....one thing that irks me about this set up is that it will not auto reconnect if there is network trouble. If the internet goes down, router drops connection etc etc, i need to manually login to the Pi and have it reconnect. Granted, if there is a power outage or the Pi otherwise completely reboots, the feed will come back up automatically but that is not very often and it is more likely the connection has a blip which drops the connection and things require manual intervention.

Prior to running this image, I ran a Pi and installed each software component manually (using the old guide on radio reference). The above was never a problem and the Pi would reconnect when network connectivity returned, whether it was 5 seconds or 14 hours later.

Are we required to upgrade, and if not, what would be a big reason to upgrade if I'm using this on a RPi4 with 2 SDR dongles? Any great new features or fixes?

This image isn't going to give you any better performance.

But if you upgrade to a Raspberry Pi 5 you'll see significant performance enhancements. And this new image supports the Raspberry Pi 5

This is a jump to v3.01. So, there are no updates for v3.01 available currently, and it's impossible to "upgrade" from v2 to v3 using the shell updates check.

There was a problem with the auto-reconnect in the original version of the image and darkice. I believe we resolved those a while back.

Thanks. I dont think i have ever received an update through the shell updates check, guess that is why i am still on 1.12. What is the best way to proceed in your opinion? Complete wipe and reinstall? Was there updates beyond .12 within version 1 or did it then go to 2?

You have to completely wipe and reinstall if you want to use this new image

i have NEVER had any success with getting my pi to upload the audio from a sdr.
even with sdr trunks built in streaming. i can get it work on windows but never on a pi. i sure would like to.

im trying to upload the audio from a usb sdr radio. its just a normal NFM noaa steam nothing fancy with p25 or anything even digital. anytime i try to use the bcfy shell and i can get it set to my steam and it shows its configured to it but once you try to start the steam it gets stuck in a auto restart loop. its shows that it is in a pre start than goes to auto restart than after 30 sec it goes back to the pre start for 5 more sec. i have no clue why its doing this non stop
i cant figure out how to get the audio from gqrx to the to input side of the bcfy shell as well i know on windows you can use VB audio cable maybe the pi has something like that that i'm just not seeing.
if someone could plz help walk me through on how to set this or point me in the right direction or even a youtube video, id be VERY HAPPY to get this working so i can free up my pc for other things
the best way to get back at me is by email @ keagan738@gmail.com
thank you

Completely trash program designed to receive free audio while he sits and makes millions off adds and you get absoulely nothing in return.
You mostly get satisfaction knowing other people in the hobby are able to listen. Instead of talking about how it is "trash" why don't you provide suggestions for how to improve it, I'm sure @blantonl is open to helpful suggestions.

Thanks for the update! I am interested in upgrading to the Raspberry 5 from my 3.

Two questions:
1. Will this speed up my upload times for my feed? I am running a Raspberry Pi 3 with a Broadcastify shell and a sound card hooked to a Motorola XTS2500 via an aux cable. My feed is around 3-4 minutes behind.
2. Has anyone had success with SDR and Op-25 for North Carolina VIPER channels? If so, can you send me ELI5 instructions? I spent a few days a few years ago trying to figure it out with no success.

Has anyone been able to write this build to a card and run it successfully? I have tried both Balena and Raspberry Pi Image writer and neither are working. I am running this on a Raspberry Pi 5. Balena it errors out during the verify process, and Raspberry Pi Image writer it passes however red lights on boot. I have downloaded the image several times to check to see if by chance it was a corrupt download. Going to try and different memory card now. Will report back if I have luck.

I just wrote the image after a test download last night and it wrote fine to my Rpi5.

I can also confirm we have about 40 new installs of the image over the past 24 hours, across numerous different versions of the Pi.

Thanks, this is a new PI, I am working through installing Raspberry PI OS to determine if I have a bad card/board, etc. Thanks for confirming this build has been installed successfully.

The first time I attempted to flash v3.0 I also received a failure during validation using Balena. I tried a second time and it worked. That was on a Raspberry Pi 4B. I have not yet tried flashing yesterday’s v3.01 release though.
