That exactly what I did, downloaded and had the file in my download folder and got the error. Then I tried using the function to flash from the URL and got the error. I was finally able to get the image on the card using the raspberry pi imager but now it asks for a login and the default of "pi" and raspberry will not work. There is not accessing anything past the login screen.
I'm not sure what you've done here... possibly the image had not finished downloading? I'm not sure what to say here. Maybe you've got some security settings on your computer preventing the app from running properly? I don't know.

We've had over 120 pi's checkin with the new image, so I'm not aware of any widespread issue.

In almost all cases like this where I see widespread adoption of something we're doing working just fine, and then exceptions like this, it's because an advanced user has done something special in their setup that deviates from the norm. A complex firewall, some weird security setting, something like: "oh yeah, I'm running balenaEtecher on the PowerPC version of Windows on an old mainframe in a VM session of OS/2" or something crazy. 😂

I am not an advanced user. I know zero linux or any other computer language. I have to follow every detail of the instructions to get things to work and then have to ask people as well usually. My only experience with pi is trying to host a feed. i see the the info for login etc but that does not seem to work. As for what I am seeing...there is never any option for a shell or whatever that is. I have rebooted the pi multiple times and all i get is a plain screed that asks for a user name and passwords. Nothing else on the page. I will reformat the card and try again.

I would start with re-downloading the image. If you are getting verification errors from BalenaEtcher when opening an image downloaded on your computer there's either something wrong with your download, or something on your computer isn't allowing the BalenaEtcher application to access it correctly (security settings or otherwise)

OK, I deleted and reinstalled Balena, downloaded a new copy of the file and also used a brand new micro sd card for the pi. And...it works. I now have the image installed. I will work on the other pieces tomorrow. Will Pi Connect be available with this image as the ability to reboot remotely is important as I am about 2.5 hours from where my feed will reside? Thanks for you help on this new image. Hoping it works well.

Excellent!

Pi Connect is not bundled currently, but you're more than welcome to install it: https://www.raspberrypi.com/documentation/services/connect.html

I'm not sure what is going on with my image. I have re-downloaded and re-imaged 3 times, with the same result. I put the SD card in and apply power, and get the rainbow start screen. The green LED flashes 7 times and repeats. I have successfully booted from a "normal" image without issue. Are there any instructions out there that would allow me to duplicate what is on the image manually? I can't seem to find any.

It is included with our image.

You've got a problem writing the image to your card.
I've tried multiple SD cards, multiple Pis, downloaded the image multiple times, and used both Balena Etcher and Rufus and still no success. I've used the Raspberry Pi Imager for a standard install with no issues. I had no issues with the previous Broadcastify image.

What Raspberry Pis are you using?
I was using a Pi 2, but tested on a Pi 3 and a Pi Zero just to see if they would boot at all. I suspect this is the issue. This is also why I asked for the written instructions to manually build it out, installing only what I need for my feed (RTLSDR-Airband). Seems like every version of the written instructions I have found no longer work with the latest OS version.

Converted one of my pi 4's over this morning, without major issue.

Only thing I had to do was remove the quotation marks from around the numerical value on the broadcastifySystemId line in the config.json file. Apparently this had been fixed quite a while ago? lol... I'm a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" guy. I did order a pi 5 8GB board to start messing with.

i have NEVER had any success with getting my pi to upload the audio from a sdr.
even with sdr trunks built in streaming. i can get it work on windows but never on a pi. i sure would like to.

im trying to upload the audio from a usb sdr radio. its just a normal NFM noaa steam nothing fancy with p25 or anything even digital. anytime i try to use the bcfy shell and i can get it set to my steam and it shows its configured to it but once you try to start the steam it gets stuck in a auto restart loop. its shows that it is in a pre start than goes to auto restart than after 30 sec it goes back to the pre start for 5 more sec. i have no clue why its doing this non stop
i cant figure out how to get the audio from gqrx to the to input side of the bcfy shell as well i know on windows you can use VB audio cable maybe the pi has something like that that i'm just not seeing.
if someone could plz help walk me through on how to set this or point me in the right direction or even a youtube video, id be VERY HAPPY to get this working so i can free up my pc for other things
the best way to get back at me is by email @ keagan738@gmail.com
thank you
I am no expert, but I'm not sure what you are wanting to do is possible. I think if you want to use a Pi for a conventional NOAA feed, you'd still use a scanner or what not, and hook up the 'audio out' to the 'mic in' on USB Soundcard for the Pi. I think the SDR only comes into play when you're wanting to ingest to the Calls system. I could be wrong.

Does anyone know of a line I can add to the config.json file to block certain talkgroups? I don't think its related to this new image, but for some reason lately, I've been getting a lot of hits/uploads from some encrypted talkgroups that are being passed though. Just little half second transmissions of garble.

Use a talkgroups file as documented on the Trunk Recorder configuration options below. The encryption flag on there should stop it. You can also add another column to the .csv file called "Priority" and set -1 for the encrypted talkgroups to skip them.
