This afternoon on Sheriff TG 27210 I noted radios with ID's in the 7xxxxxx's and radio call unit #'s 9972 and 9973 signing out of service. They're the first units I've caught transmitting on this talkgroup rather than just patched from VHF.My observations from monitoring the new Broome P25 system 24/7 for the past several weeks.
- Broome Sheriff (TG 27210) has had their old frequency 154.80 patched into the new system for several weeks. I'm not sure that any units are actually transmitting on the new system yet.
too bad it was not easier to read but it does help outBlurry Broome Fire/EMS Battalion map that I forgot to paste into my previous post.

Unit IDs 99xx belong to the DA's office. You are hearing school resource officers call in and out of service via the trunked system. This afternoon on Sheriff TG 27210 I noted radios with ID's in the 7xxxxxx's and radio call unit #'s 9972 and 9973 signing out of service. Battalion 1 talk groups are assigned to the east. Battalions 2,3,4 are assigned to the west. Most law enforcement talk groups will be assigned to the west however Sheriff and a few shared LE talk groups will be countywide.Any new updates to the County Talkgroups for Broome? I see the new list online but was not sure on one thing, for the FD setup who is Batt 1-4 and how will they be assigned onto the broome west and east? I was also curious if anyone else will be going on the system for like squads and other PD agency's?

It is countywide. That talk group works in east and west.Just to confirm, the sheriffs office is not countywide yet?
Broome Transit will be on this coming week, as will Town of Colesville and Town of Windsor Highway Depts. Other public service agencies will follow then Fire and EMS will migrate over.
has any other agency's come onto the system as of yet
I've said this before about these new systems. Such is digital radio... very finicky and audio is quite often indiscernable.Broome Transit dispatch has indeed made the move from 453.725 analog to talkgroup 27380 on the P25 system.
I'm hoping Vestal PD will be able to make the switch soon. One recent morning around 6am I turned on the scanner and heard comms about a criminal incident near the University. An officer was transmitting an urgent message on his portable that was largely unintelligible. Broome could not understand it but fortunately other units reported they were responding and were close. A few moments later a 'Suspect in custody" was just clear enough to be understood. However, over the next half hour at least half of the transmissions from multiple offices at the scene were too garbled to be understood by the Broome dispatcher. The issue may have been both due to the radios and their location. This could have been a major officer safety risk. They definitely need new radios sooner rather than later.
*opinionHowever I stand by my assertion that these digital systems do not have the best audio and are oft times difficult to discern.
