Is there a math formula that I can use to convert those old 5 digit ID's to the 7 digit ID's ?

Typically they just swap radios. They hand over the old one with the old unit id and receive a new one with the new id. Then the old radio gets reflashed and handed out to somebody else. That way they don't have all their subscribers out at once.

I think you gotta start from scratch. I gave up on that in Broward since there was too much moving around. E-9 would show up a few days later as R-20 so I gave up trying to track them.

they are using the same radios in fact before they moved over to the P25 system they would sometimes be asked to move a BSO LE Comms channel and their Radio ID would be 7 digits and when they switched back to their dispatch would be 5 digits.. same radio it just reads 7 digits on p25 and 5 digits on analog ..Anyway and shift units change every day and every shift anyways thanks...

I listen to this agency exclusively and Tac 3 12064 is used as TTY and Tac 1 12062 is used as Car to Car & INFO

This checks with what I just heard: a unit came up on tac 3 and asked if he could request a cab for a citizen on tac 3. Dispatcher told him they normally do that on tac 1, but go ahead since everybody is already here on tac 3. So tac 1 = info & requests for Hollyweird.

I have the same NooElec's that GTR8000 recommended. Too many to count lol. Works great with the Unication stubby antennas. I track Broward, Palm Beach, Coral Springs, Plantation, Fort Lauderdale, Boca etc. without an issue. Hey i really like your set up. Im fairly new but have been following all the post for a while, it seems like P2 is being implemented. would you mind sharing what type of equipment and software you recommend for BSO and PBSO?

For Phase II systems like Broward, the only two I recommend that are designed to handle linear simulcast modulation are the Uniden SDS series (100/200) or Unication G4/5. Anything else and ymmv depending on your setup, location relevant to the towers that you may being receiving, etc. My Uniden 536 works fine on PBC, Broward, Coral Springs etc., but its sits on my desk, doesn't move, and I'm using the stock telescoping antenna collapsed to limit my signal from multiple towers. Throw that thing on an external antenna and pre-amp and forget it. I personally like the G5 because it's so small and portable and receives literally on par with my APX's.

I have the UHF 7/800 G5, with UHF covering 450-512. If you get that model, you can monitor Miami-Dade Fire Rescue as well.

This is exactly what I did and why. I can receive Miami-Dade (P25) from my home in Pompano on an outdoor antenna. I can pick up fire on the stubby antenna outside.

No they are more superior .. although technically Unication products are not scanners .. I seldom turn on my SDS 200 .. as It misses about 5 to 10 percent of the traffic . My G5 performance however is rock solid .

i did end up getting the g5.. can you offer any insight with programing by chance ? it seems to very technical and customizable. ?
