Capturing & Recording UID on Encrypted Channels

Is it possible to still capture and record UID on encrypted channels?

Using Proscan, I can see the UID.
However, it does not log them.

Any way I can get Proscan to log UID on encrypted channels?

I've never tried to log UID's from encrypted TG's, since it slows down scanning things that I can actually hear. I do know that it will log UID's when there's no audio, due to a bad decode from a weak signal, or catching the tail end of a transmission. There are a couple of items you need to change in options that should allow you to log them.

ProScan doesn't know or care if the channel is encrypted or not. ProScan will log all channels when the 'activity' flag is set. I don't think anything can be done in ProScan to get around it.

When I have it stopped on an encrypted TG.
On the scanner, I can see the UID.

However, in Proscan.
It is not logging it.

When its on an un-encrypted TG.
It does log it on Proscan.

But, for some reason when its on an encrypted TG.
I can see it on the UID on the scanner display.
But Proscan is not logging it.

Am I doing something wrong?

Can you post a screenshot of the received data when the scanner is stopped on a enc channel, like in this image. So I can see if the scanner is sending the activity flag and channel info.

Thank you.

I am using the newest version
Proscan version 23.3

I attached 2 screenshots.

Screenshot #1 Shows that I have it on manual, on an encrypted channel.
And it does show the UID.

However, in screenshot #2
it shows that nothing is being logged for encrypted channels

Note:
It does log UID, for un-encrypted channels.
However, it does NOT log, for encrypted channels.

I tried on multiple encrypted channels.
And I do NOT see any info after the GLG, for encrypted channels.

Screenshot #3
But I do see info after GLG, on un-encrypted channels

Hope the info & screenshots help.

Thank you :)

#1 On manual, on an encrypted channel. Showing the UID.

#2 Encrypted, not logging

#3 Unencrypted, showing info after the GLG

Is it logging the transmission, just not UID?

On ENCRYPTED, It is NOT logging anything.
Of course, no audio. But also not the UID's either.

Un-encrypted it logs everything.
I am just trying to get it to log UID on encrypted.

On the scanner itself, it does show on the screen the UID.
When I have it on manual.
But it does not log the UID in Proscan, on encrypted

And didn't know if it was capable of doing so.

Update:
They are doing a state test this morning. And for the 1st time, I have heard an un-encrypted transmission. On the encrypted channel.
Only, because they were doing a state test.

However, that worked out perfect for me!
Because I can show that it DOES log the UID on the same encrypted TG I have been monitoring.

Showing that when it is Un-Encrypted.
It DOES log the UID.

But it is not logging the UID, when encrypted.

I was not able to get screenshot of the test & monitoring info, sorry.

I don't think I'll be doing any work in this area. It would be a workaround at best. And the UID Recorder won't record audio.

No worries. I was just wondering if it was capable to do so or not.

I am trying to help out the Starcom P25 system for IL. for UID's
And was trying to see if it did it on the local encrypted channels too.

And figured I would ask.
I learn something new everyday! :)

Bob, thank you so much for your software and the amazing dedication and work you have done with it.
I enjoy it a lot! And many others do as well. And I am honored you responded.
Because the responses are straight from the source.

You have responded to everything I have ever asked about ProScan.
Your patience and customer service skills are truly amazing.
Thank You
