2 more new CFD Quints heading up Hwy 2 to Safetek in Leduc on Sunday. When the Quints are in service with equipment and full water tank, they are going to be very heavy. Not as bad as the old Bronto, but close.

does anyone know if these new Quints will be carrying a multi tool of some sort on board?? Like spreaders or cutters or even Jaws?

Some aerial info from being able to listen a lot more lately.

8 Station has a new Aerial and the older repainted truck is now Aerial 1.

Aerial 16 is running the previous Engine 25, (the platform quint - don't know where the Bronto is).

Don't know how permanent these moves are, but thought it was update worthy.

Thank you for the up-date Mr.Velvet!! Please do keep them coming!!
And maybe the Bronto is at the maintenance shops? I know CFD is supposed to be getting a new truck to replace the Bronto Skylift as it is over 13-14 years old now, but i cant find any tenders/orders, etc... for it
and on another note.. Engine #5 has a new Engine-- E0510. Haha can it even fit in the Station??

Some CFD up-dates..
-CFD has in fact purchased the 105' and 75' Pierce Quints as well as the 105' Smeal Quint that they original leased. The 105 footers are running as Spare Quints, the 75' Pierce Quint is currently running as Engine #11.. that could change depending on Aerial/Quint coverage etc...

--#16 Bronto is in Red Deer for some Major Repair(s)/Overhaul. #25 Engine (2004 Smeal Platform) will remain in #16 until the Bronto returns to the city. Engine #25 will be running a spare Engine until then...

---All the new Smeal Trucks are labelled as Quints.. As far as I know only #21 and #30 run Quints... (6 Firefighters) The rest so far all run as Aerials (2 Firefighters)

-----#Aerial 1's new truck is in the shop getting outfitted (Q0811), as well as the last Quint in the order from Smeal (Q0811) - I have no idea where that truck could go

This is #1 Quint's new truck.... All the new Aerials are called Quints now because they each have a 2250gpm pump and hose on them. They are all supposed to run with 6 firefighters. This is because every station that has one of these Quints has either a Bush Buggy or an Aquatics Rescue vehicle at the station as well... So if a call for the BB or the Aquatics truck comes in, 2 or 3 firefighters from the Quint (or if man power is lacking.. associated Engine company that is housed at the station) can staff those trucks and still have 3 or 4 firefighters left on the Quint to act as a basic Aerial or as in Stations #21 & #30 case, an Engine with a 105' foot stick on top.

, as well as the last Quint in the order from Smeal (Q0811) - I have no idea where that truck could go
I meant (Q0711) their not (Q0811) as (Q0811) is labelled as #1's new Quint..

So I take it that Station 1 is dropping the second engine & aerial, and just running the single engine, the quint and the parkade truck.....also, was the picture of Q0811 taken inside the new repair shop?

-The second Engine that was in Station #1 was redeployed as Engine #49 and that truck is running out of Station #2. (this happened when Station #6 became operational)
Station #1 will just be running The Engine, Quint, Parade, and 1 AHS Medic. Depending on staffing levels the "Quint" could run as an Aerial but who knows...
--And yes that picture was taken inside the Calgary Fire Departments Maintenance Shop.

Thanks for the info Engine 4.

A couple of changes in the Calgary area

Rocky View Fire Station 72 has moved into their new station, East of Balzac at Hwy #566 and Range Road 291.

Airdrie Fire has moved into their new Headquarters station, which is now called Station 89. The other Airdrie station on the East side of the city is now Station 88.

Thanks for the up-date ahp309!! It's very nice see Airdrie Fire moving along.
As for the Calgary Fire Department.. Q0811 (#1's Quint) should be in service now.. I do believe Q0711 is just being used for training at this time and is not being shuffled into front line service as of yet.
As some of you may know Hyatt AutoGallery was awarded the tender for the CFD's new district chief vans.. they should hopefully be on there way to some truck/van outfitting facility in calgary and hopefully delivered to the CFD soon

Thanks for the up-date MrVelvet, I don't know what the CFD is going to do with the new Hazmat Truck, whether it is going to be a front line unit, a spare, or a specialty/second piece truck.. do you know what is happening with ! Aerial?? Calgary Fire seems to just be rotating spare Aerials and Quints out of the station

Hey guys. New to this thread. Love it! Yeah I drive by station 1 everyday and see that the aerial/quint they've been using seems to be a spare and was also wondering about that. Any one know why they moved the high rise support to 23? why is a truck like this not stationed at one 1, 2 or 6 anyways? Seems like every incident I see on the news downtown the HRS is there anyways.

For the Quints--- I was talking to a CFD mechanic a while back and he was saying that they had to switch all of the 125mm hose and possibly all of the 65mm hose to (Sorry I forget) on the Smeal Quints to a higher/thicker grade LDH hose because each Quint has a 2 stage 2250 gpm pump on them. therefore with regular hose this could potentially burst them when running at a higher pressures or gallons per minute... So with this crews where trying to stash lengths of hose all over the truck!!! this is simply because the hose bed was not designed for this higher grade/bulkier hose.

Therefore CFD could have sent 1 truck at a time back to Safetek or Smeal to have there hose bed modified or there is simply something wrong with Q0811 (1 Aerial)

for the Highrise Truck-- I have no idea.. but i would think is that it is being stationed around downtown so it can respond to other high-rise buildings in the city... all CFD crews in the downtown probably deal with high-rise calls and probably the odd fire daily/weekly, were as crews that are stationed around downtown don't get to go into high-rise buildings that much and therefore have this specialized crew somewhat/ potentially close to them in the event of a high-rise call... also it could be a staffing issue... it's way better to have 8 firefighters in a hall rather then 4 or 5.. (don't put your all your eggs in one basket)

Wow, good find.

I didn't know 24 was getting a new Quint - they are out so rarely, I haven't had a chance to see their new radio ID.

24 still has their tender as it was out a couple of days ago to a grass fire in Edworthy Park.

That must be 19's new BB.

This must be a very recent move, I don't really get why #24 would have an Quint in there station. I don't think the Tender is still there, I can't see AHS pulling a medic out of #24. And besides the new Quints cross man the bush buggy's and there were only 6 firefighter on scene. I wonder whats in #19 now.. maybe the new Hazmat and possibly #24's Tender?? Maybe the Tender moved more north.. like #20 or #35 Station?? a Tender in the north would be nice
