ARFF trucks in Station 13 are the property of the Calgary Airport Authority. I can't see CFD spending the money on ARFF that would be stationed away from the airport. They would not meet the response time requirements for Transport Canada, and due to ARFF vehicle weights and dimensions, are impractical to operate on city streets.

I've noticed there has been two trucks in station 10 lately after they moved the high rise to 23. I drove past it today and confirmed it is engine 48 from station 17 there now along with engine 10. Looks like they have the hazmat in 17 as hazmat 17 so I suppose they moved e48 to make room for that and perhaps that's their reasoning for moving the high rise. I haven't confirmed the hazmat in 17 but another website lists it as being there.

The new Station #27 when it is built, is supposed to cover the "new" Northeast industrial area and the new airport runway.... therefore I would assume this Station is going to be something like #13 Station, With both airport side and city side bays. Henceforth CFD's contract with YYC will probably be doubling in size

Some CFD Apparatus movements...

- #1 Aerial is (A0105) - 2005 Spartan Gladiator Evolution / Smeal aerial (-/-/105'). This truck will be staying at 1. (Q0811) was re-numbered and deployed as #27 Quint which runs out of #22 Station.

- **#8 Aerial (Quint) & **#8 Bush Buggy have be shuffled up to #29 Station

- Just an interesting fact.. #8's Bush Buggy (#29 now) and #18's Bush Buggy are both a 2000 Ford F-450 (200/CAFS) I personally did not know that CFD had two identical trucks..

- The West District chief is now in Station #8, North DC is in #31

- **#33 Rescue (R0307) has been redeployed as #8 Rescue

- #21 Rescue (R0411) has been redeployed back to #17 Station as Rescue #17

- An interesting fact with the Rescue's shop numbering. Some Rescue are numbered the same with the exception of the years..**#32's Rescue (R0407) & **#17's (R0411) ...#8's Rescue (R0307) & #26's Rescue (R0311)

- There is an Engine back in #21 Station. It is #27's Engine ( E3710)

- #25 Station's Hazmat Recovery unit is now Stationed at #16

- #25 Station will not be getting the 2004 Spartan Gladiator/Smeal platform back, they will keep there current 2000 E-One Engine.

- Most Quints in Calgary run as basic Aerials now (2 Firefighters on a Aerial) With the exception of #24 & #27 & #30???

- 2 of at least 8 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter High Roof are at the CFD shops now.

- And the 167' Bronto has not returned to the city as of yet...

** Means these trucks are still sporting the numbers of the last Fire Stations they were assigned to.

MD of Rockyview change:

Station 72 is now Station 107 - along with all related apparatus.

No other MD stations have been changed, so I'm unsure of this change. Hopefully someone has some inside info for us.

Wow. That's an interesting change. Must have happened in the last 24 hrs as on Monday the bushbuggy was still 72 when they responded for a cow obstructing traffic. I would assume that all the stations in rockyview would be changing but I guess we wait and see.

I followed that link to the Rockyview website - looks like nobody is keeping up their webpage. Elbow Valley has been out of 33 for ages. They're just south of the last set of lights on Hwy 8 now. They have an engine and a tender. There was never a tender in 33 from Rockyview.

All the stations that had numbers in the 50-99 block were moved out to higher numbers.

This is a summary from the email my chief at Redwood sent us officers:

Redwood - 120

Cochrane - 151, 152

Rockyview - as follows:
Elbow Valley - 101
Springbank - 102
Madden - 105
Balzac - 107
Irricana - 108
Langdon - 111

Crossfield - 154

Beiseker - 130

Chestermere - 116

Bighorn - as follows:
Ghost River (Benchlands) - 167
Jamieson Road - 168
Exshaw - 169

A lot of these have some other numbers reserved for future use. Example - Rockyview's reserved numbers for, for example, the long-rumored Bearspaw station, should be obvious.

Those of you in Foothills MD, have you heard of Station 9 during the nightly radio tests yet? I saw a pic of a new engine on Facebook recently from a Foothills fire officer and the indication was that they are building a station 9 in Heritage Pointe. I would imagine they'd be on the same channel as Blackie, but I can't be sure.

Thanks for the info Jay - really helpful!

As for the Heritage Pointe station, it looks to be almost complete - they should be paving the road connecting it to Pine Creek Road this week. (drive by it quite regularly)

Engine #30 is now (E3204) - 2004 Spartan Gladiator / Superior pump (1250/500/30A/CAFS)

looking at the calgary fire station maps The City of Calgary - All fire stations within Calgary it doesn't seem right to put the jet boat and boat tow in station #39.. are there some better boat launching site(s) around there then station #30??
