How to program?

I am traveling to Chattanooga tomorrow. I have a BC396XT--should I program it as Motorola 800/900 and use the frequencies in the database for Chattanooga/Hamilton Co.?

Sorry for the "new guy" question here.

As I understand it, Chattanooga first started this system and it's growing into the "TN Valley" system.

BUT, if this is true, it's listed as two systems in the database. One is listed as Moto Type II and the other as P25 Phase II.

Which one is it really? (I'm asking from Roane Co.). Would a Uniden 996xt monitor it?

I appreciate the answer. My other question is it saying that it's "P25 Phase II"... is it? Stuff I've heard about it makes it seem like just phase I, but phase II isn't monitorable. (Just asking why it says Phase II istead of I?)

Any interest in having a "Unidentified Talkgroup" page set up in the Wiki where we can enter any talkgroup we are not sure about? Once we confirm the user it be copied over to the database. I see it as a way that we can collaborate on figuring out who is on what talkgroup.

I would not worry about Phase-2 for now. No standard has been set yet for what Phase-2 will be. If Phase-2 turns out to use a flavor of TDMA no current scanner models can decode this. That's years down the road.

Noticed in Knoxville area the p25 traffic has picked up in last few days.
talkgroups I have had hits on
tg1=15 hits
1447=1
1539=3
8021=4
8059-1
16019=2
still sounds like tech talk, said they were charging someone extra for this and other end said o yes for sure

Will the Pro96 monitor this system? I know the 96 will not track the 700mhz, but what about the 800mhz sites? I started messing with it today, with no luck.

It will monitor the 800 sites, but not the 700's

Got it workin. Sort of. Lots of distortion. Nowhere near as good as my 106 recieves.

One more question. What system type would I program the Valley system into a 996xt as? Would it be P25 Standard?
