The TVRCS is designed to handle encryption, but for 99% plus of the time transmissions are in the clear. Rhea county services are definitely scannable, with a digi capable scanner correctly programmed with the sites and talk groups. Depending on where you are in Rhea, consider scanng the Evensville, No Pone, Sale Creek and Roosavelt Mountain sites.
In fact, the system installed is capable of operating in two-slot TDMA, also known as P25 Phase 2. No one is using that for now since equipment is extremely expensive. But according to users of the new GRE 800 scanner
they are copying TDMA traffic in Maryland. So far Uniden scanners can't do that. But I wouldn't worry about that for a few years.

Just heard activity on 15001.

Two people asking about whether or not they wanted to move an inmate since it was almost count time. Talk about a yard officer and needing to get this person to a higher security level area.

It came across Roane Co. Site 2 (which is now mislabeled as Buttermilk Road)...

I'm wondering if it's Morgan Co. Correctional.

This is definite correction facility traffic, there nonstop talking on it now, I'm hearing it on the Roosevelt roane co site. 15001 on CC 769.0812

Can all of Hamilton County and the Chattanoga PD be heard off the Bradley County Stites? During the capture of Lawson suspect I pluged in Hamilton County thru the SIMULCAST site and was very scratchy and very low signal. What would be the best site for a North SIde of Bradley county to monitor Hamilton County and CPD?

Chattanooga/Hamilton County stuff comes through mostly on the four-site P-25 system or the 4-site analog system. You might hear some traffic on the Sale Creek site, if a unit is affiiated with it. Oddly enough, CPD Adam comes in usually regularly on the Trenton, Ga site. That has a direct look into parts of CPD Adam's district and has a stronger signal strength than the four-site simulcast in some areas.
Only way you'll get Chatt/HamCo on the North Bradley/Oswald sites is if somebody is within range of them and is affiliating the talk group.
The signal stregth on the 4-site P25 system got a big boost a few weeks ago but seems to have dropped again in some areas. Don't know if it's weather conditions or an issue with system.
Good luck!

so if i plug hamilton county into the notrth bradley site i should be able to recieve Hamilton co. I didnt not know they still even used the analog system. I ususally just monitor Bradley but was pulled into Hamilton the other day. I will try just setting up a hamilton county off of Bradley North and see what happens. What about Chatt pd, I did have a decent signal with sale creek I will just have to try some reprograming. Thanks all,

CPD's talkgroups will not roam into Bradley. You'll need to setup a mobile antenna or some sort of base antenna and shoot it towards Site A (10).

Bradley County - Cleveland

Anyone heard any updates as to when Cleveland/Bradley County are going to 100% fully switch over to the P25 system? I know that they've got frequencies and some mobile units in operation, but how much are they actually using it now?

I've got to replace a scanner that went kaput on me and was wondering how many more months (or years) it would be before both Cleveland/Bradley County switched over. Also, if I have to get a P25-capable scanner, any recommendations for both a base and handheld units?

Thanks in advance!

Question:

FreeScan says it needs the APCO band plan on each site. It errors out. What do I feed it so that it will leave me alone?

Thanks!

entering the band plan is not required, I believe the scanner will calculate this for you. Make sure you have system type set to Mot II/P25 system and the site types set to Mot P25/P25 Standard.

well the DB update a hour proves it Turlrey TNDOC prison is now on the TRS. the site covers 22 miles so a lot of you in west Mid TN should get this. those of you near other TNDOC should keep a eye on the TRS's there to see if they are now sites as well

Also be advised, all TNDOC sites WILL be converted soon to TVTRS sites... Keep an ear on em, and please do submit any new site ID's TG's, etc... TY in advance! This also proves that YES this will become the TN statewide TRS... Wonder how fast they will build it out and how fast they will add interop TG's for MS, and AR... MS will have MSWIN completed in a couple of years, AWIN is basically complete, pending any "privately funded" aka county/municipality paid for expansions pop up in the next few years. Also will be interesting to see if they add this onto the GulfWIN network of TG's that link LWIN, AWIN, MSWIN, and the TX systems... And things get more interesting. :)

Hmmm. Maybe thinking outside the box but what if this system went beyond state system and more of a Tennessee Valley system? After all
it's in the name and NW Georgia is part of the TV.
It may not be a bad idea to keep an eye on FCC listings for north Alabama.

Alabama has NO plans to build an statewide TRS, or to join anyone elses currently. Last "Official" word was they were preparing to plan on an P-25 Conventional VHF network. In other words upgrade the current state police system to narrowband P-25 repeaters like Texas DPS is using currently. But that information is now 2 years old, and I have not heard anything new.
