The Canyon Ridge site was recently completed. From looking at the tower the microwave dish is pointed in a Northeast direction. This would suggest the Ringgold tower as it's link.

Interesting to note this regional system is actually licensed to several different agencies. The State of TN has the 700Mhz sites at Oswald Dome, Evensville, Decatur, Charleston-N. Bradley, Lenoir City, Madisonville and Starr Mnt.
Knoxville holds the license for the two 700Mhz sites there, while Roane County has the license for that county's tower.
Chattanooga is licensed to the four 800Mhz simulcast towers there while Catoosa County Georgia holds the paper for the 800Mhz sites in four GA counties.
We'll see how it all shakes out.
Chattanooga is building a new fire station alerting system (like MOSCAD on current SmartZone system) that according to on-line records show it will operate on the new TVRCS Astro 7.7 system.
Anybody else hearing any news on this system?

Is the North Bradley site a silmucast site? I have full bars at noth bradley, and the 2 Knoxville sites. I only have like 1 bar on the Chatt site. For a Base unit will I hear all the transmissions on the North bradley site as for ALL of the other sites

The north Bradley site is not simulcast with any other sites, unlike the four Chattanooga towers that do simulcast together. All the 700Mhz sites are stand alone and don't simulcast. So you'll hear mostly Bradley County stuff, unless someone with a different agency has a radio that picks up the tower and then you'll hear that talkgroup. For example, if a Hamilton County deputy goes north on I-75 and their radio picks up the control channel on the Bradley site it will affiliate with the that tower and then you will hear the Hamilton County talkgroup traffic - until the unit drives out of the Bradley site range and affiliates with another tower.
As for the Chatt simulcast system, you are right, it is weaker than others. I'm not sure if all the sites are running or are full power but it's a lot weaker (signal strength wise) than the current analog system, especially in areas around downtown, north Chattanooga, Red Bank and into Hixson and Soddy Daisy. But it is stronger on the east side of the county, where the Collegedale tower helps the White Oak tower.
Some people in the Atlanta area have said the new P25 system is a lot weaker than their older analog system.
For what it's worth the Canyon Ridge tower in Dade County smokes! I can actually get a stronger signal from it that I can the Chattanooga simulcast is some places around town. Strange, indeed.
I submitted the Canyon Ridge info to the database some time ago but it was never posted. See above posts for freqs, etc.

Canyon Ridge Walker and Dade County

I am in the process of upgrading my scanner to pick up the new radio system. Canyon Ridge is only a few miles from the house, so anxious to get that done.

Can anyone tell me if Walker County's transmissions are broadcast off this tower in addition to the tower near Lafayette?

Guess I don't understand how the new digital freq work. For example, Dade County has a analog tower in Rising Fawn but they have to switch over to a different Freq/tone to "open" the repeater.

I suppose my question applies to Dade County as well. When Dade is working I-24 will they hit another tower other than Canyon Ridge? Because Canyon Ridge would be a good distance away.

How does working off different towers work with this new system?

Thanks

For Dade County you will want to monitor either the Chattanooga P25 10-channel system, or the Canyon Ridge 4-channel system. Which ever you hear better, or both. Much of Dade is covered by the Lookout Mnt. tower on the Chatt. system, while Canyon Ridge fills in the south end.
For Walker County, whenever they do go to this system you would want to listen to the Chatt system on the north end, or the NW Ga 10-channel system on the south end where you would hear the LaFayette tower. But again there will be some parts of southern Walker, as well as parts of the top of Lookout on the south end that will favor Canyon RIdge.

As for simulcasting, that may occur later on as the system is grown , and this phase is finished up, remember it will be linked to the mid state phase when they begin that, and the eastern phase when that happens. As fast as they are building this thin, it will be interesting to watch.

In the Cleveland Daily Banner yesterday there was an article about the Bradley EMA. It stated they bought 232 of the 800 MHz radios for the county and city emergency response agencies. Are these the TVR system radios? What frequency or system are they using? Does anyone hear any traffic on the Chattanooga. 33296 821 D CPD Cleveland Police Car-Car
33328 823 D CFD Cleveland Fire Car-Car
33360 825 D BCFR Bradley Fire-Rescue Car-Car
33424 829 D BCEMS Bradley EMS Car-Car
33456 82b D BCSO Bradley Sheriff Car-Car

Are they using any of the 800 MHz Interoperability Channel.

Hulio, the talkgroups you listed are used on the current, mixed-mode Chattanooga system. I don't know if the radios EMA bought are to be used on this system, or the new TVRCS.
Right now the few users of agencies that are on 800 just chit chat, and it's not that often.
The frequencies for the TVRCS are listed in earlier posts in this forum, or the data base for Hamilton and other counties.
The frequencies for the current analog/digital Chattanooga system are found in the data base under Hamilton County.
Not sure if Bradley-Cleveland will use the new 800 radios for chit chat and tac traffic, or if they will use the TVRCS for day-to-day traffic.
All of Bradley EMS units have had 800 radios in them for a while now. Cleveland fire has had them on board the trucks for a while too.

Hulio, did they happen to mention the model of radio the EMA will be getting? If its the XTS2500 and it mobile counterpart, or APX7000 and its counterparts, they both can be used on both the existing 800 MHz TRS's, and the new 700/800 MHz P-25. As well if they go with the APX's they can also talk on UHF, or VHF interop and local freqs as well as the 700/800.

No, the model was not mentioned. There was a county employee installing a new 800 MHz in Criminal Investigations Division car. I thought maybe I had somthing programed wrong. That is alot of radios to buy just for chit chat. Some of the City Police cars have the 800 anntenas. There was a picture of the dispatch center and all of the NEW MOTOROLA rack mount radios..Thanks for the info

Can this thread be made a sticky?
The Hamilton County rebanding thread is way old and it's still a sticky.
As this system nears completion we are going to start seeing talkgroups popping up. As an example, 7016 has been popping up lately. Others between 7002-7019 were tested this week. Anybody know who this is?

MILF, thanks for making this a sticky!
And Hulio, thanks for the info that these are coming through on Sale Creek site. I'm hearing testing today on TG 5521.
I have heard that Walker County and Dade County's 911 centers are supposed to be getting P25 consoles installed this month. Some Walker County folks have said they are also about to get radios installed. We'll see.
Anyone running UNITRUNKER on these towers?

Shouldn't the title of this thread be Tennessee Valley Regional Telecommunications System instead of Chattanooga Regional P25 ? It seems most of the conversation is about TVRTS....

I had started my own threat about the State system and did not bother reading this one because I am not interested in the chatt system. although Chatt System is going to merge with the State system they are still currently two separate systems. So I suggest staying with the subject and starting a new thread for State System conversation so others do not have to read the long list of postings that are off topic.

Just a suggestion..
