Interesting traffig on A/G 59

Helo pilot talking to someone on the ground: said they would not get a "Reaper" (drone) but instead would get satellite imagery. Maybe someone monitoring the aircraft radar returns might see a Reaper show up.

you are welcome Alain!

They appear to have repurposed Cleveland Admin Net to be a Command Net for the firefighters. Regular CNF traffic will be on Cleveland's Forest Net

Any updates to the comm plan? Has IC been giving morning updates?

When I get out of this RF shielded box I am working in I want to check on two other air frequencies that might be active

166.5625 AIR TACTICS 61
168.6875 AIR TACTICS 64

There are probably VHF AM freqs in the aircraft band that will be active too

There was mention of 167.950 and 167.0625 being used by air attack command today... have not been able to monitor since tho.

...Thinking maybe the Holy fire-specific info should go into the breaking incidents forum?

Anyway,

Look for NIFC C3 and/or C10 to come online in the next day or 2 for command.

Tacs in use:
NIFC T1 - T6
VFIRE25 - El Cariso

Others:
CALCORD
A/G Tac - 166.825
A/G CMD - 167.0625

AirOps:
TFR 128.225
Air Tac - 170.5000

I've heard someone say he was hearing air traffic on 170.500 already but I have not confirmed

Mark,

Thanks I was going to email you directly and ask.
Are there new procedures this year with IAP’s? I can’t find any, north or south.

I also heard Cleveland say that all fixed-wing aircraft should use 133.5 MHz.

One of the techs asked someone to do a radio check on command 3, (NIFC) so I can confirm that that would be one to look out for soon.

Updated command frequency

To anyone who did not notice the change, command channel switched from CNF Admin net to NIFC Command 3 [170.425] yesterday (Friday). New repeater is lower power, not sure of the location(s).

I'm still hearing some comms on CNF Admin Net that are referring to it as "command". (Not surprised)
Also, it's still good for AA to Cleveland communications regarding air tanker status.

Admin net is now a backup command.

NIFC C3 is at Santiago linked to NIFC C10 at Elsinore.

I am guessing it is a portable repeater. Thursday night I was watching the live video streams from Santiago and monitoring radio traffic and at the point the fire briefly jumped MDTT someone on the radio mentioned "losing" a portable repeater, It may have been burned or maybe it just fell off the truck but they seemed to at least have a swap in motion to get off of Admin Net..

Holy Fire IAP

Does anyone have the link to the daily IAP Incident Action Plan report for the Holy Fire? See attached PDF's for example. It lists all the frequencies in play for the day.
Thx

Another interesting listen is to Skylark field, CA89, on 122.9; sky divers and wildfires. Unlike last week the airport and the fire air are discussing operations. 122.85 was also very active with related traffic the past couple of days.

I have been monitoring these and the others mentioned from Canyon Lake, Ca.
