My title is Global Database Admin. My duties are to process submissions when they are submitted to the database. We really aren't supposed to add information that is contained in forum posts, although sometimes it does happen.
Glad you cleared that up. You should view my efforts to collect and share information as a good thing. When the information is vetted it can be submitted. If you can actually help with the vetting that would speed up the process. Since you do not live near CNF, visit CNF or work in CNF I am would be interested in what you can contribute to the discussions. If your only concern is DB submissions then I guess it is just a waiting game as the information develops.
Yes, I actually live near, recreate in and often work in CNF. I have a very strong interest in what goes on and enjoy listening to some folks I've met..
Well, again...I'm trying to understand if your daily posts are just commentary or NEW information that we should be adding to the database? I don't see any submissions pending from you, so I assume it is just you posting daily activity. Is this correct?
I believe there has to be a logical approach to the collection of information and the final submission of valid information that impacts the database and the users.
1. Someone like me hears something on the radio and it might only be one transmission or it might be more.
2. Share the information here with others who may also be listening or have additional information
3. Try to validate the information through monitoring and discussion. (can be PMs or EMAILs)
4. When it is felt to be solid then make a wiki submission.
Earlier in 2017 my information was used to correct the database before I even had a chance to submit it. If I hadn't bothered to post who knows when the corrections might have happened.
And yes, this is a discussion forum, but I wouldn't really consider it a discussion as most of your posts go unanswered. So, I'm just looking for clarification on the point of the posts. If you are posting to get things added to the database, then you will need to use the submission area. If you are posting to let others know about status' (functioning/not functioning) of repeater tones etc, I would suggest logging into the wiki since it is kind of like a scratch pad for temporary changes or bits of information that isn't normally contained in the database.
There used to be a fair amount of discussion in the beginning of this thread and something seemed to dampen it. Most of my feedback comes in PMs and emails now. I only share what I am permitted to but often my public reply is an answer to the private communications because more than one person is interested.
So what if my posts go unanswered. Nobody is being forced to answer if they want to lurk. If Angeles NF comms seemed to be having problems it is interesting to know that a tech got out and fixed a duplexer. There is no logic in judging the post by the absence of discussion. That is not needed.
My posts are a record of activity that can be referenced by someone 5 days from now or 5 months from now when they are trying to resolve a question about USFS comms. Frankly less people talk about USFS than they those who discuss LAPD or CHP so low activity should not be so worrying to you. I have been posting on and off in this thread for about 2 years and usually my messages are spread apart by weeks. Not many people are interested in USFS so activity will always be low. Criticizing it forms a negative feedback loop.
I can try to improve things by also using the wiki as a scratchpad but I still want to get attention for the information by posting here in the forum.

You don't see any submissions because the information should be vetted and that could take weeks of monitoring. I can't monitor 24-7 so I post what I have ASAP and get it out there to share it. I don't sit on secret piles of information and hoard it in order to feel superior. I am glad to share what I hear and don't worry if it doesn't instantly turn into a long public discussion.
Frankly some folks don't want to deal with a lot of off topic chatter so they use PMs and EMAILs. Nothing wrong with that if it helps the hobby.
