Can anyone confirm if Gold Cross in Columbia GA is still dispatching using 154.0025 dpl 051? I’m aware that Richmond is no longer using Gold Cross or their vhf frequency.

Gold Cross will soon be dispatched by Columbia County Fire Rescue. Four new communications positions have been approved for that purpose. Gold Cross units have already been added to the CCFR CAD system. I'm not sure if that aspect is fully operational yet.

It's certainly possible that Gold Cross may utilize the 100% encrypted Columbia County radio system.

The county is doing a major upgrade, replacing all public safety radios. The new radios apparently also have the capability to operate via cell sites and wi-fi. I'm told that the new radios have additional features similar to smart phones.

BTW, the replacement CCFR Station 2 on Gibbs Rd. will have three bays. I suspect that the two new planned fire stations funded by the most recent SPLOST fund will be three bay stations as well. Draw your own conclusions...

My understanding is that Columbia County Gold Cross units will be dispatched by Columbia County 911 starting very soon. As far as I know, they will be using the Columbia County encrypted radio system, with the exception of contacting the hospitals via the HEAR channel. I’m unsure if Gold Cross will maintain their current radio licenses/equipment or not.

I received more information today and was told that CCFR will begin dispatching EMS calls on or about Jan. 1.

Apparently, Gold Cross has been using the Columbia County radio system for some time.

The new county radios have texting, GPS with a map showing the locations of other units and can receive photos on the color screen.

As a side note, it was said that Gold Cross is no longer providing services in Aiken, Greene and McDuffie Counties. They are still providing 911 EMS service in Jefferson Co.

From the news I have seen, I don't think they're on great terms with Richmond county lol I know they use Columbia county's system. They are licensed for a ton of other frequencies too.
