Hello,

Have a SDS 200.

Have read Mark's Easier to Read..., many, many times.

Honest.

Mid 80's now, and I guess i just miss many of the nuances these days.
Or, it just doesn't sink in. But, am enjoying the scanner very much.

Hence my probably very basic (and dumb) questions.

a. How do i eliminate the "Custom Search" screen that continually appears ?

b. Same, for the "Search With Scan" that appears ?

Am I correct that when the scanner hangs on some freq that has nothing but
static, irrespective of the SQ setting, the only way to have the scanner
get past it is to use the Avoid ? Or, eliminate it from the DB/List ?

Any other technique ?

Thanks; really appreciate the help,
Bob

a and b are related. You have to go into the scanners menu, or use Sentinel and the profile setting, and disable the Monitor Search with Scan option.

You can use Avoid to turn off a frequency that has static. It will be a temporary lockout and will be enabled again after a power cycle and after a program or read of the scanner. You can also turn the rotary controller to continue scan to see if the static are still on the frequency the next time the scan cycle reaches it.

Usually with SDS scanners and when you encounter static you probably can get rid of it by using the different filter settings and/or the IFX option to the frequency. It is a bit tedious and complicated to elaborate with the filters but might be worth it if the scanner are stationary at home.

Pushing the Avoid button twice quickly on a channel will lock it out until changed with configuration or Sentinel
