Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Delay to to resume scanning?

Hi

New G5 user.

I've looked in PPS and have a series of frequencies as part of a P25 simulcast system.

I have enabled TGID Hold, but I'm looking to be able to change a setting to have the frequency it just hit hold a bit longer before resuming scanning.

Is there a setting under "Binding Fear Setting" that would do this? Reset Mode is on "Auto" currently.
Is it Selective Timeout Reset or Monitor Manual Reset"? I did try the Monitor Timeout Reset and did see the 30 second countdown start but it still seemed to go the another frequency instead of holding.

Not well-versed in this unit, so forgive me if I'm missing something obvious.

Thanks

Unfortunately, the Unications have never had a scan delay. I've always wished for this. Once a transmission ends, it's off to the next transmission. In 3, 2, 1, ... someone's gonna tell you "it's not a scanner".

That's because it was meant to be a pager for FD use and is really meant to stay on 1 TG.

Delaying scan on trunked channels is likely to result in missed transmissions, unless you want to stay on a control channel longer before scanning off to a different system.

Thanks you and understood.

Thank you. Understood that it's not a true scanner, I just like it compared to the SD100 for footprint, screen, battery life, etc. Transitioning to this from my SD100 and don't expect all positives, but one can hope!

No, I think it's that not having a delay causes you to miss transmissions because you may not hear replies of what you're listening to. And it's not the control channel we're trying to stay on longer, it's the TG (or maybe conventional frequency if not trunking).

Scan delay does not apply to talkgroups. That is a different parameter and has different names depending on who made the receiver. Scan delay is for conventional scanning of frequencies.

Are you sure about that?

Unication devices are built to monitor one system at at the time and best for monitoring a simulcast system (Less is More). G4 and G5 screens are much smaller than SDS 100 and display less information, however these devices are built like a tank and the batteries last a full day. As mentioned before, the target market for these pagers are mission critical personal and truly cannot be compared to a consumer grade scanner. Having said as a scanner listener, I use my G5 more than my SDS200 as it never misses a key up.
