Every time I see a Fremont FD personnel, I always ask them, one of the guys (I think captain) from Station 1 says as some point they are but he is unsure when. 2 of the guys off of Engine 56 a few weeks ago said they are not switching to the new system.

How long is the extension good for that they got from the FCC for the old system? I thought the original extension was good for only 6 months.

I don't recall there being any sort of extension on the ALCO TRS. The extensions you are probably thinking of were related to the narrowbanding mandate associated with many of the UHF systems owned by member agencies. Many of these agencies have now migrated over to EBRCS.

Also...

E-56 not switching to the new system while the rest of the department moves makes zero sense.

Yeah I know, it is weird....I think most of the guys at FFD don't know about the switch. The 2 guys on E56 almost talked as if they had already done the switch, so they won't be switching to any new system anytime soon.

For what it's worth, CoCo SO switched over probably close to a year ago now.... while ConFire has yet to do much of anything. There have been some coverage tests heard, and every so often the analog ConFire Central Dispatch channel is patched onto EBRCS then gone again a short time later. FFs in the field can be observed carrying APX 7000 radios but they are still hanging on the analog system...

The APX7000 is a dual band radio and has over 30 decks with 16 channels in each deck. It has over 500 talk groups or frequencies in it. I believe Con fire is in the process of classroom training for the new radios. I believe that you will still hear them on their old VHF frequencies as well as mutual aid VHF frequencies when they really start using the new resources. In the Phoenix, AZ area, the fire agencies use the VHF for Hazard responses such as Fires, Haz Mat calls and accidents and use the P25 trunked system for Medical Calls.

Yeah but they kept their VHF channels active as well until July 1 or shortly thereafter. Now they've gone quiet.

Does STARR One still use the VHF patch onto EBRCS? Last time I heard them they did but admittedly it's been awhile since I've heard STARR.

Actually they sometimes patch to the old VHF side for marine patrol. I just heard them last Sunday on the old VHF system. But yes its very rare.

Their VHF is gone? Didn't know that. Guess I can delete them
I haven't dedicated a scanner to those frequencies to be sure. Thought I would post here to see what others know. But late at night they used to talk a lot and all I hear from CoCo now is Fire and CHP.

No, we don't have confirmed information that's been done. Better safe than sorry. Not used doesn't equal gone yet.

Well I wasn't even thinking about the DB, I was speaking of my own programming. But looking back at what I wrote, I can see how you might have thought that haha

I did hear the East channel active earlier.

CoCo SO VHF

I also heard the East SO VHF channel active last night, but not the other two. First time in quite a while for me.

Concord PD has been doing on-air dispatcher console training for a couple days now. Consoles are 4133001-4133008. Training has been taking place on TG 7170, sending alert tones and such.

Also, while monitoring TG 7806 "CDCR PAROLE", I'm getting the idea that this is actually the TG for CCCO Juvenile Hall. The banter is very informal and they have been talking about having a room available and about moving kids from one area to another. They were also reporting being "on the way back from the Martinez court."

Anyone else getting the feeling this is not really a parole channel?

I've got it locked out as it was boring as hell but it's been confirmed AFAIK.

Can I even get enough signal?

Hello All,

I live in North Livermore and was wondering if it is even possible to receive outliers such at Concord PD? I understand I'd more than likely need an external antenna - but is it even worth trying?

Thanks!

As long as they are affiliating with a site you can receive, yes.

Their primary site is Coco Central. Can you hear it from your location?

By the way, they aren't active on the system yet.

If they are not active on the system, that might explain why I can't receive them :). I get Nutty Creek like they are next door (believe the old school term is "wall to wall"). Any idea when they will be live on the new system?

I still can't get EBRCS to work, well, but from what I've heard, W.C. is on it, but simulcasting on their old (and much clearer) UHF channel(s).
