I still can't get EBRCS to work, well, but from what I've heard, W.C. is on it, but simulcasting on their old (and much clearer) UHF channel(s).

I do understand your frustration with the P25 system. I work at a place that has been using the P25 system for almost 4 years now. I carried 2 walkies for almost a year (one for P25 and the other one our old system) . . . our "old" UHF system was so much better - until our radio techs "figured it out". Now, one one watt I can talk (and hear of course) most anywhere in the East Bay. I still know people older (I remember when only Doctors carried pagers) that me who still prefer the days when there was a 100+ watt transmitter in the trunk. All you needed then was the right crystal from the shack. So, be patient, get freescan, start with only one agency on one system. You will be surprised!

As long as they are affiliating with a site you can receive, yes.

Their primary site is Coco Central. Can you hear it from your location?

By the way, they aren't active on the system yet.

What frequency are they broadcasting on?

Hello All,

I live in North Livermore and was wondering if it is even possible to receive outliers such at Concord PD? I understand I'd more than likely need an external antenna - but is it even worth trying?

Thanks!

Last night, I was able to pick up Concord PD "loud and clear" on the EBRCS - I also noticed at the same time that the audio links on computers/smartphones etc are "off-line".

Probably because they were feeding the old conventional channels that are no longer active.

Well, on my PRO-106, with the 800MHZ RS antenna (programmed via PSREdit500). I have just the COCO Central cell programmed, and just the local PD's. It's still dropping every other word in the transmission, or sounds all garbled, and the "T" indicator in the display is never solid, it's always blinking. Changing antennas or Attenuating the site, or trying the various modes, nothing helps.

Not sure what else can be done.

Another question. I cant receive, reliably, any of the CoCo Central talkgroups, i.e. Concord, Pleasant Hill from my location, but Berkeley PD's talkgroups come through perfect on CoCo Central...is every talkgroup available from every site?

I'm a little confused by your examples but I'll try to explain.

Lets say you're trying to listen to a Concord talkgroup... there needs to be a radio tuned to that talkgroup affiliated on the site you are monitoring. So for example, unless a radio on the sytem is affiliated to CoCo Central and is monitoring Berkeley PD, you won't be able to hear it if your scanner is monitoring CoCo Central.

Also with your previous post, make sure you don't have anything on Priority. (Weather, other talkgroups, other frequencies, etc.) And where are you located?

For a landmark, i'm near De La Salle High School., Concord.

So, why would a Berkeley PD talkgroup come in better than a Concord PD talkgroup on the CoCo Central site?

The whole system seems overly complicated.

All the talk groups should be the same if you are truly listening to just the contra Costa central site. Make sure you only program the control channels for that particular site.

Yeah I'm thinking that's the issue.

The system isn't really that complicated. You've just got to make sure you've programmed the right frequencies in. The details are important. In my scanner I make a new system for each site. That way I can activate the sites I'm closest to with the touch of a button.

I actually think the EBRCS system seems to function quite well, especially considering the diverse topography of the area. I've scanned statewide systems that could learn a few things from EBRCS.

I'm still curious why Berkeley and Richmond talkgroups are received almsot perfectly, but Concord, PH, Walnut Creek and Martinez are very sporadic or unreadable.

Did you read my reply? Check and make sure you are only using the control channels from the ccco central site.

I tried two things: one V folder with just the CoCo Central control channels, and one V folder with the entire system. There's no difference in reception.

Hmm, that's odd then. I was guessing you might have been monitoring a different site thus being able to hear them more clearly. But if you can hear one talkgroup better than the other, on the same system, then I'm stumped.

Multi-site or roaming

I wonder if you have roaming on or selected.

I just noticed a new frequency on the COCO East Cell. It wasn't there yesterday.
770.40625 mhz. Anyone else notice it!?
I'm also seeing a large amount of traffic on 7160 that's ENC.

The sixth channel in all the lineups has typically been a tac and encrypted. Likely still Concord PD. Do you have any radio IDs to confirm?
