ALCO fire is listed here on BOTH sets of frequencies. But I only found them on the old 851 mHz frequencies, not on the new 750 mHz frequencies. So I was trying to figure out what the situation is.

You are correct, but for future reference, the main county page will always reference which system is in use. In this case, its the old analog system as the system to monitor.

Talk groups are known for ALCO fire on the new system, and are listed, but they are not yet in use.

Thanks for the explanation. It might help those of us unfamiliar with the database to have a note in the database indicating that the listed system (or talkgroups) is/are not yet active.

Recent EBRCS (CCCO central) rollout and the Uniden hp-1 not working, HELP

When my GRE PSR700 stopped picking up any traffic for Concord, PH, WC police I started digging and saw the new EBRCS APCO25 system info on good old radioreference.com. I purchased a Uniden HomePatrol-1 and since setting it up (for about the last week) I still have not picked up any traffic. I'm following up with Uniden but over the last weekend was over in Marin County / San Rafael. To my surprise, I was able to pick up some local police traffic because I had some their 'favorites'/talkgroups defined on the hp-1. These are also APCO25 phase 1 and part of the MERA system although the radioreference db entries are a little different - perhaps so because of a different system implementation but could it be that the new EBRCS entries in the radioreference db aren't quite right, at least for the homepatrol-1's use? Anyone else have an hp-1, or for that matter a GRE PSR800 which I believe also uses the database and an SD chip to do the magic? Any luck with either of them in central Contra Costa??

Any help to resolve this would be appreciated.

Are you able to plug in your HP-1 and do a manual download of frequencies or are you restricted to what is already on the SD chip? From what I have seen with videos and reading of the HP-1 is it is a plug in and go type of device. Unfortunately, I don't know what the update process is like, whether or not you receive monthly or anual updates or what not.

Isn't there a way to manually input frequencies and TG's into the HP-1 as well?

It gets its info directly from radioreference.com's database via the included 'Sentinel' software. Connecting to the PC software via included USB cable, you then overwrite the device's SD chip with the updated database in order to keep the settings/frequencies current. What this means is that the hp-1 is completely dependent upon the radioreference database.

There is a "quick frequency entry" function on the hp-1 but I think it's for simple/conventional frequency entry and my sense is that it's not permanent; there doesn't seem to be a way to store/edit the entered freqs.

I'm right in the middle of the COCO Central site, and I can't receive anything reliably with either a Pro-106 or Uniden 396T, but I can also receive MERA. I've given up on receiving EBRCS, it's not worth the time or hassle.

roo,

Assuming you're using software to download and load the system specs from radioreference, or ?

Thanks again.

Defective scanner; replacement picks up EBRCSA traffic OK

My problem ended up being a defective Uniden HomePatrol scanner. My new replacement unit is working OK.

Manual programming, RR software programming, the whole system, individual sites, different antennas, different locations throughout the house, backyard, front yard...Sometime I wonder if my area is a legit system dead-spot.

Hopefully this is the right EBRCS thread to post this in, WayneH or Inigo feel free to move it if needed…

I have everything programmed in right but for the life of me CAN NOT pick up Martinez PD at all. Both their analog, which should be, and talkgroup "channels" are dead as a doorknob! I'm able to pick up the rest of EBRCS in the extreme East Bay just fine though!

Pro-2096 using Win500 to program from the database.

Which cell are you trying for? Martinez is on the CCCO Central cell only, TG 7305. No reason you shouldn't be hearing them unless you've got them locked out or something...

The patch onto their UHF system was removed many, many months ago.

I'm in roam mode as I traverse the county quite frequently. While I traverse the county, I generally only listen to one PD at a time on the scanner, and so I punch in that Talkgroup's ID. Say Martinez is 1190 and Hercules/Pinole is 1189, I will punch in 1189 while in Hercules/Pinole and then when I get to the Martinez area I will punch in 1190.

I think you posted this in the correct thread. We just wanted to keep the EBRCS updates separate from the questions people kept hijacking the original thread with.

Off topic, but I'm not a forum moderator. I get in just as much trouble as everyone else. :D

For those of you listening to Fremont PD, are you scanning ALCO East and Southwest sites? Or just Southwest/East independently?

I never hear them on east. They will probably only be on east while enroute to SRJ.
