EBRCS Update

Hi kma - and everyone.

Just checking in with a quick update from the CC Central & CC West world. More like a non-update.

Nothing has changed here in several weeks. I've been logging the Central cell during the day this week and have had zero hits from anything new. Not even radio techs are on the cell. Still seeing CC Sheriff West on the Central cell full time and Richmond Fire frequently.

About the only thing interesting I've learned is that Richmond PD units have Richmond Fire Dispatch programmed into their radios. Didn't know PD and FD liked to talk to each other. :twisted:

Also noted that TG 7210 was carrying encrypted traffic. It's in the EKS PD grouping, so I'd guess its another encrypted tac channel for those folks. I won't submit on it until I can better verify that finding.

I guess efforts are directed towards ALCO...

Ah... Welcome to Martinez.

Well, since I posted earlier, I started Pro96com on the Central cell. A few blips of life were logged.

TG 6013 - two radios hit it - 4500198 and 4521155. Both the TG and the RIDs are unfamiliar to me so far... nowhere near anything I've logged so far.

Also one single radio affiliated with CCC SO West, then SO Cent, then TG 7715. I've seen TG 7715 before with hits from a SO radio (4077xxx), but on this particular hit, the RID of 3250096 is also unfamiliar to me. In fact, I've seen no RIDs starting with 3 here. Wondering if 7715 could be SO East?

Otherwise, no hits on 6310.

TG 7507 sounds like RIchmond Parks & Rec - traffic related to a community center, lunch, etc...I will create a submission later after monitoring it a bit more today.

Here in Fremont recently I have heard the techs testing on TG 1011 which they referred to as ALCO Law 1. Don't know if this is a sheriff dispatch TG or mutual aid. Time will tell. Also heard testing on 3506 and 3508, which I guess is related to Pleasanton PD. These were heard on the ALCO East simulcast cell. There was mention on TG 1011 about "going further into Oakland and juvenile hall (located in San Leandro)". This may have been testing of the NW cell. Pleasanton PD continues to be heard on 3505, but not continuously. Nice to finally hear some activity in Alameda County.

Sounds like the same P25 simulcast distortion issue people have been having on EBRCS as well as the http://forums.radioreference.com/sa.../219504-new-oakland-system-2.html#post1755182

I am curious, do the simulcast distortions reduce or go away when monitoring from outside the system with a little distance involved or only recieving a single tower from outside the system?

I live 15 miles away from Oakland and the system is completely unreadable for me, because I have line of sight with all of their transmitters. The key is putting yourself in line of sight with only one transmitter. Case in point, the ALCO East Simulcast Cell comes in clearly for me because I only get the signal off Sunol Peak.

In other words, you can eliminate the simulcast distortion, but it's not about the distance. You have to isolate yourself from the competing signals. Alternately, you can point a Yagi antenna at a particular site.

Possibly still Pleasanton as theirs are grouped starting w/3505

Logged some hits on 6310 today, three radios, one 4521xxx and two 4511xxx - these radios were first seen today, however, one of them (4521xxx) was previously seen on 6305 back on 7/16.

6308 and 6309 also had a couple of hits from 4511xxx radios.

Starting too appear that 6310, 6309, and 6308 are associated with fire (ConFire?)

Alameda NorthWest County - Cutover target September 2012

Contra Costa Central / East County - Cutover target October 2012

Richmond PD now encrypted on TG 7508 - looks like another encrypted Tac channel. Several RPD radios active now on there. (CCCO West)

Edit to add: let me be clear, RPD 1 and 2 are still in the clear on 7505 and 7506. I re-read my post and realized it sounded more grim than I intended!
