Just heard Richmond Fire on Contra Costa Central Simulcast on TG 6305 - message was "Richmond Fire from Engine 72, available in quarters"

Edit: more traffic for Richmond Fire from Engine 72 reporting out of service for training. So far, Engine 72 is the only unit with traffic. It sounds P25 as opposed to EDACS simulcast. Radio ID is 4300252

Edit: now traffic from Engine 71 reporting AOR also from Radio ID 4300252 - so must be a simulcast from EDACS, which I would have guessed it to be.

Edit: Batallion 71 reporting available in quarters to Richmond Fire.

EBRCS is coming alive!

Just verifying Richmond Fire is also now simulcasting on COCO West on same TG 6305, however this may NOT be their final TG as I've heard (as posted a few above) the radio techs talking on this P25 TG 6305 while on EDACS Richmond Fire Tac 3 and then later same TG 6305 while simulcasting Richmond PD Chl 2.

Triptolemus, just for info due to some BC receiving problems, what radio are you using?

Also still hearing some units broken (sounds like out of range broken) and some units Loud and clear. The ones that are broken do come in and out and are sometimes understandable unlike OAK P25 on my BC's and some others with the newer 996xl.

My BC796s are NOT programmable to this system because they do NOT cover the 700 band and the old BC796s requires a band plan for re-banded 800 systems. So, I can use them only as the audio scanner for Pro96com on COCO West sys because all the Freqs are 800, but the band plan calls for 700 freqs.

But again it does sound like it is NOT an OAK type garbling, just analog vs digital, right I'm getting full quieting on the EDACS and about 20% signal on the P25. Another one bites the dust for me, at least OAK is still simulcasting on EDACS for whatever reason.

Martin, a great place to try and monitor the COCO West sys is a little park on the north-west side of the Richmond bridge, take 580 and exit at SQ exit, go under 580 to north side, turn left and then into the first business park driveway on the right, continue to the right and You'll end up at a little bayside public access parking lot, looks straight across to West COCO, should be able to hear all sites from there. Been there many times myself in the early days of trying to figure out the current Richmond EDACS (before RR was around of course).

I'm using a Pro 197 to monitor EBRCS. The CoCo Central Simulcast Pine Street tower is about 1/4 mile from me, so zero reception issues here.

I wonder if some of the broken transmissions you are hearing are originating on the EDACS system..?

The RFD simulcast on TG 6305 is not full time, I should add. Seems like the techs are turning the patch on and off as they are working with the system, rather than leaving it running full time.

I think the Pro197 is/was made be GRE so it should not have the same problems BC's are having.

Also I'm getting the EDACS system full quieting no braking at all (except when the weather gets very stormy), and using GRE600 for Pro96com input, BC796 for audio output, but also have 2nd BC796 monitoring the EDACS system so that I can match reception results.

Also I'm behind a hill that blocks a lot of my East Bay traffic, so changing the East Bay agencies from analog to digital is a big problem for me.

Thanks
Dave

That little park just north of the Richmond Bridge is the old Marin Rod & Gun Club. Dave, I would recommend trying to monitor the above systems with your GRE PSR-600. It is much newer than the Uniden BC796D. Furthermore the older Unidens had much more problems than the old GREs (ex the Radioshack Pro-96 and -2096 which were made by GRE) with decoding even regular IMBE digital (C4FM modulation). It's no wonder you're not hearing anything through the 796s, they weren't designed to work with CQPSK and "Linear Simulcast Modulation" didn't even exist yet. I would suggest using the newest scanner possible for digital audio output and you might have slightly better results.

While you couldn't feed pro96com and listen at the same time, you could always do the discriminator tap mod on one of the 796s and then run Unitrunker/Trunk88/LTR Analyzer etc on any system you desired (not just P25). Check it out: BC796D Discriminator Mod - The RadioReference Wiki

Power on the SW cell, 772.84375 (Warm Springs tower) was jacked up today. Went from barely readable on my 396T to full scale. Also hearing techs using the encrypted feature. Sounds like things are moving along.

What happened? What did you find out? Why did you delete your post?

7255 is one of the West County PD's, I don't have my list in front of me. If one of there units cannot log into the west system or happens to be in the Central area and logs in then all of the trunk group will be repeated over the Central Simo system

Last Week when I was in the bay area, I heard two or three trunk groups belonging to the west group being retransmitted on the Central System..

Your quick!

At first I didn't realize 7255 was listed as Pinole. Didn't seem right they would be on the central simulcast, but not impossible, so I just left it alone.

Signal was choppy so I gave up trying to figure out.
