Ok so I was looking to add DFW DEA and a couple other Fed items, DEA has both analog and digital. I can add the simple conv fm frequencies just fine with the PL codes, but I dont get how to add the digital ones, they are basically the same frequencies, they have NAC codes instead but I dont see where you can choose P25 for the mode? This is in Win500, am I just using the wrong tab or page?

I can add Tsys and conv objects normally with out issues, but this is the first time I have seen P25 that wasnt Tsys or what Im use to being Tsys type of setup.

Go to the conv tab and enter the P25 frequency just like the others, then set the squelch mode to NAC. After that enter the NAC code in the same place as you would the PL code. Hope that helps

But how do you tell it its P25 or digital? do you just pick FM for the mode? This is where Im confused, I can put the number in, put the NAC code in, but its set at FM not P25, there is no place to choose P25.

Digital is P25 - the scanner can only receive one digital mode, and that is APCO P25.

In win500 do as follows, in the conventional tab:

In the "Frequency" column, input the frequency as normal. In the "Mod" column (Mode), for digital frequencies, use "Auto." In "Squelch Mode" select "NAC." In the column "Squelch Code" input the NAC tone. This will unlock digital frequencies with that NAC tone.

If you do not care to be so specific, or if they use analog and digital on the same frequency, leave the "Miod" as "Auto" and leave the "Squelch Mode" in "Search." This will open up all fm and digital fm transmissions.

The difference in win500 and the PSR-500 is that when manually inputing the digital frequencies, "P25" is a choice for "Squelch Mode" rather than "NAC" in win500, at least in my old version of win500 it is.

I think you just leave in auto mode. At least that is how I have mine.

Ok will give that a try

I understand that P25 is digital and the only thing these can get, but P25 is not a choice in Conv objects is why I was/am confused on setting these up, will try the auto setting for Mode and see if that is what is needed.

Thanks, I will try this. I had it all down on what to do, except I didnt realize you needed Auto as the Mode. Seems they should have P25 in there as an option on this page.

Not to confuse you, but you just need to leave the conventional frequency in FM mode. It will automatically receive P-25. Just put the Tone mode in NAC, and Search. It will put the NAC on the screen, and you just need to push the F3 button to store it. Just that simple. Use it all the time on my 197's and 106.

Ummm, not to confuse you but both convention and P25 are FM (Frequency Modulation).

Conventional = Analog FM
P25 = Digital FM

Our department uses NX-210 handhelds and NX-700 mobile. Is the NXDN capable of P-25? How do we update these in the field? We have been giving the software, but no instructions on how to update!
