Hi everybody
Just bought Fast Lane DSDPlus, so installed by putting files in proper places. Changed the input to 2 and output to 1 to match directions in this video. Changed output on SDR++ to match. Opened SDR#, Ran DSDPlus.exe -rp with admin rights and got this message:

FMPx link error = -5
(goal now just to hear audio)

What would be a good plan of attack?

Full output:

Why didn't you run it just as it was intended, when you installed it. FMP*-CC.bat and 1R.bat, without modifying anything, and get that working. Then move on to crippling it by using SDR#.

Use the menu system in DSDPlus. And go to CTRL --> Passive Digital Monitor.

And in SDR#, uncheck "Filter Audio"

Using DSD+ with external signal sources

DSD+ can be used with external signal sources such as a properly discriminator-tapped receiver
or SDR software such as SDR#. To use DSD+ with these sources, use the menus in DSD+ to
select Passive Digital Monitor mode and then to select the audio input device that carries
the digital audio signal
. When running in this mode, DSD+ can be used to monitor conventional
analog and supported digital signals; DSD+ will not directly support trunk tracking.

That's how you cripple your brand new shiny FL install...

Nobody's looking to 'cripple' anything, just a newbie messing around. But, it's all good, thanks for your 2 cents!

It always starts with just "messing around". Then becomes why does this not sound good, why is my cpu maxed out, etc, etc.

If you want to best out of DSDPlus, it works great with its FMPX tuner linked directly to DSDPlus, compared to using SDR with a virtual cable.

Ugh, this video is from 4 years ago. Let it die.

Nobody's looking to 'cripple' anything,

Incorrect.

You may think you are doing something advantageous or sneaky, but you are not.

Using DSD+ with external signal sources

DSD+ will not directly support trunk tracking.

You are eliminating the programs ability to do what it does best.

@hiker679, you disagree with definition 3 of 3, section 2?

Highly specialized pieces of software always have a manner in which the developers have designed for maximum operational capacity. Use them as designed and you won't have these problems. Use FMPx.
