Yup, updated my firmware and the option shows up...

When selected I get this...

... and you are right, it does NOT show up on the remote head or in ProScan.

I'll have to look into upgrading.

I live in the middle of the Sonoran Desert in AZ. I'm more interested in the RF Gain feature. Has anyone tried it yet?

This is neat! I like the presets and how they throw the channel name up at the corner like FRS1, FRS2 or RR 30/360 or whatever. That is handy.
It will be fun to play with in the daytime on lowband when the skip is in.

BTW, what is Racing 800M? There exists an 800 MHz band for racing?

I did the firmware update without purchasing the waterfall option add on and my VHF and UHF conventional seems to be decoding better and also the scanning speed is a bit faster. Not sure if this firmware really meant to fix some other related stuff or it was just to add the waterfall design.

The firmware release notes explicitly state "Improved digital reception performance. The improvement effect varies depending on the receiving area.", as was pointed out numerous times in this thread. Call it a hunch, but it seems like this firmware was really meant to fix some other stuff, not just to add the waterfall design.

Just glad that the SDS models are at least have some shelf life left with some software and firmware updates. I know after Up-Man passed away its been pretty quiet as he was the main guy for the future and support for the Uniden scanner division. Wonder if Uniden has found some good engineers lately to help move this SDS radios forward. But its good to see some movements with these models.

Early on in this thread, a few of us asked if the keylock could be brought to the SDS series, and JoeBearcat mentioned he would like to see it as well, even if undocumented (Future SDS Firmware to include waterfall option .). I'm not in a position to do any downloading during the day, so I'll ask... has anyone tried [FUNC] - [PWR] to see if the keypad locks?

I can and will believe that Up-man was a great and smart guy. But it sounds like his competence is growing up to mythical proportions last few months. No matter how great he was, he sadly passed away and there is a new sheriff in town. By referring to what he wanted to do, or could have done, you are creating your own disappointment.

For now I‘m glad that there’s a new firmware update and a new Waterfall function you can use. Just like @JoeBearcat said what would be done, and it’s even released before Christmas. However all I see are some assumptions about what Up-man would have done better…. Like I said before, you guys don’t realize how lucky you are. I hope and pray that maybe some day (yes, better steal something good then make something bad yourself😁) we get a @JoeBearcat working for Uniden Japan. Because we, SDS200e owners, now just have a No; No customer service, No contactperson, No news, No information, No firmware update, No Waterfall….

All I can say is you had to know and interact with UPMan to have any idea how good he was. You need to know his history in the scanner world
it dates back to the early days of Radio Shack Scanners. The history is out there search for it and read it.
I knew and did beta testing for Paul way back in the late 90's and early 2000's. His passing was sad for everyone. But it's not the end of the world, it's just a change.

Need Help! I updated sentinel and the firmware and everything went great there. I purchased the Waterfall key and got my "number".
However..........When I go to enter the waterfall key numbers in, it does nothing. I get no response when I try entering a digit in. Am I doing something wrong? Is there an alternative way to get the waterfall key into the scanner?

Figured it out.....You have to use the knob to get the digits.....Dummy me thought you entered digits by pressing the numbers on the key pad. Durrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhrrrrr

The problem was and is that there is no "new sheriff" in town. Joe Bearcat does the best he can, however he has stated several times that he is not UPMan and doesn't have the level of authority that UPMan had.

It's good that the new President of Uniden America has committed to the scanner product line and with this release I'm hopeful that we'll see a lot more.
