• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Having an issue with my G5, my unit would randomly reboot at times but didn't seem to be alarming at first. Now this morning I turned the unit on, red light on the top turns on like its starting up, and start up screen starts the unit gets to the first two dots and then reboots. Looks like its locked up. I already took the battery out for 5 minutes, battery is not dead it is probably around 50% or so. I just bought this unit new from Unication 2 months ago in October and should be on the newest firmware and using PPS 4.0.

Any suggestions on what I should do?

I just put in a form to contact my local dealer.

I have a G5 that does the same thing. I’m addition to what you describe, mine also sometimes locks up on a TG with the screen lit as if it’s still live. Change the knob and it reboots and starts running again.

Would appreciate some feedback from others who sent their units to Unication for repair. Anyone know what they did to fix the problem?

Sounds familiar and associated with the latest 2.x FW. Perhaps you can downgrade to the previous FW. You may also ask your dealer for the previous FW.

On all of the ones we have sent back to UC, they have just sent back a refirbished pager instead of fixing the same one we sent in.

Yeah, that has happened twice to me, the second one was more beat up than the one I sent in. My newest one was rebooting by itself a couple weeks ago, don't know why but it hasn't done it since.

Update, I just got my radio back from Unication. Really fast response and fixed my radio, great customer service!

I noticed that there is a new software definition on my radio. Does anyone know what this means, "BLE ACK to PS&DRT". Before my radio was just ARC Filter +Encryption + Basic Function or something like that.
